FRANCES SALDO KINGS MOUNTAIN - = Frances Saldo, 90, White Oak - Manor, died Saturday, May 6, := 2000 at Kings Mountain = Hospital. “tA native of Adams, MA, she was the daughter of the late Karol Rakofski and Andrica ~ Stakora. She was the wife of the late Theodore Arthur Saldo Sr. She was retired from the tex- tile industry. Sheis survived by her sons, Teddy A. Saldo Jr. of Florida, i Eddie Saldo of Shelby, and Don : Saldo of Grover; daughter, Ms. Virginia Saldo of Fallston; 11 grandchildren and 13 great- grandchildren. EDNA NELL STACY GASTONIA - Edna Nell Littlejohn Stacy, 71, 2787 Fairview Drive, died'May 6, 2000 at her home. A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Charles Littlejohn and Nettie Rutlege Littlejohn. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church, Kings Mountain. She was formerly employed with Craftspun Yarns, CDA Industries, and hometown Banking Since 1514 300 W. Mountain St. ® Kings Mountain ® 739-4782 Coca Cola Vending. Her last employment was with Childs Play Daycare. She is survived by her daugh- ters and sons-in-law, Linda S. and James E Craven of Belmont, Gayla Payne Grigg of Gastonia, and Wanda S. and Charles Creedmore of Gastonia; brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles and Iris Littlejohn of North Myrtle Beach, SC, Johnny G. and Louise Littlejohn of Charlotte, and Robert and Linda Littlejohn of Lake Wylie, SC; and grandsons, Andy Payne Grigg of Gastonia and Matthew Creedmore of Gastonia. Sisk-Butler Funeral Home, Bessemer City, was in charge of arrangements. RONALD K. CARPENTER BESSEMER CITY - Ronald K. Carpenter, 45, 112 Stinnett Drive, died May 5, 2000 at Gaston Memorial Hospital. A native of Gaston County, he was the son of the late Grafton Carpenter. He is survived by his mother, Virginia Milling Carpenter of Bessemer City; wife, Barbara Dills Carpenter of the home; son, Steven Carpenter of Bessemer City; daughters, Christina Dills of Kings Mountain, Jerrie Carpenter of Bessemer City, and Tracy . Costner of Gastonia; brothers, Jerry Carpenter of Stanley, Jimmy Carpenter of Gastonia, Wayne Carpenter of Bessemer City, and Mike Carpenter of Clover, SC; and one grandchild, Christopher Scott Dills. The funeral was conducted by the Revs. Larry Laws, Ray England and Paul Rhyne at 3 p-m. Monday at Greene Funeral Service Westside Chapel. Burial was in Westview Gardens. EUNICE THOMAS CHARLOTTE - Mrs. Eunice Jeanette Dover Thomas, 93, died Friday, May 5, 2000 at Presbyterian Hospital. A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late William Franklin BANK * Consult your tax advisor NATIONAL Dover and Ida Thornburg Dover. She was a retired nurses aide at the Children’s Orthopedic Hospital in Gastonia. She was a charter member of Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church and had also been active in the Senior Citizens Sunday School class and the Missionary Society. She is survived by three granddaughters, Debra McGroary of Sylva, Scarlet Ghant of Charlotte and Rebecca Finch of Rock Hill, SC; five great-grandchildren, one great- great-grandchild, and a sister, Mrs. Lamby Wentz of Charlotte. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Peggy Sanders, in 1998. The funeral was conducted by the Rev. Robert B. Arnold at 10 a.m. Monday at Hankins & Whittington Dilworth Chapel. Interment was in Forest Lawn West Cemetery. Nephews served as pallbearers. Memorials may be made to Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church, 420 E. 15th St., Charlotte, NC 28206. A native of Washington County, TN, he was the son of the late Roosevelt Jason Barnett and Mildred Hester Barnett. He . was a retired truck driver and owner of Pete and Jim's Garage in Bessemer City. He was a member of the Bessemer City American Legion Post 143. He is survived by his son, Steve Barnett of Monroe; daughters, Glenda Streicher of Nashville, TN, Jeannie Blakely of Phoenix, AZ, and Anita Shelton of Salisbury; stepchil- dren, Lisa Conrad and Bryan Robb; brothers, Donald Barnett of Johnson City, TN, and Robert Barnett of Athens, TN; and four step-grandchildren. A native of Maiden, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Henry T.Sides and Lucille Moon Sides. She was also pre- ceded in death by her son Michael Curtis Hefner. She was Pastoral Secretary at Solid Rock Tabernacle Assembly of God. She is survived by her hus- band Thomas Howard Groton, I, of Carolina House of Forest City; daughter Tracy Hefner Beaver of Shelby; son Thomas Howard Groton II, of Earl; granddaughter Jennifer A. He was owner and opera- tor of Plastic Oddities and a member of Lafayette Street United Methodist Church. He was founder of Wilderness Trail and Honalee Chapel for the purpose of children and youth. He was also the recipient of the Governor's Award for his work with Special Olympics. He held annual Christmas parties for underprivileged children in Shelby and Virginia. Honalee Chapel also sponsored the Shelby Christmas Parade. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany. He is survived by his wife Loretta B. She was a former public school teacher in Kings Mountain in third and fourth grades at Central School and secretary for Fulton and Sons, Inc. in Kings Mountain. She was a member of Boyce Memorial A.R.P. Church in Kings Mountain. She is survived by her hus- band W.S. “Bill” Fulton, Jr. of Kings Mountain; sons W.S. “Corky” Fulton III and wife Barbara of Kings Mountain, Carl G. Fulton of Hendersonville, and James P. A native of Montgomery County, Maryland, he was the son of the late Dwight Mason Blair and Bessie Alberta Stevens Blair. He was also preceded in death by his son William Dean “Billy” Blair who died in 1982, and brothers Bobby Blair and Roy Blair. He was a member of T.W. Lovelace Memorial Church and a U.S. Army veteran.
