Longmeadow, MA and Steve Sutton of Winston-Salem, trumpeters, presented a pro- gram of wedding music. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Walters of Hope Mills. She is the grand- daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hilton Walters, Mrs. Beulah Melvin and the late Claude Melvin, all of Fayetteville. She is a 1993 graduate of Southview High School and a 1997 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is a member of Phi Mu Sorority. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Roger Ross of Gastonia. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. John Ross, Mrs. Ruth Christopher and the late WH. Christopher Jr. He is a 1993 graduate of Kings Mountain High School and a 1997 graduate of UNC Chapel Hill. He is employed as a sales representative with Hertz Equipment Corporation in Durham. The bride was given in marriage by her fa- ther. She wore a strapless mon cheri satin gown accented with sequins. Flint Hills DAR holds final meeting of year The final meeting of the year for the Flint Hills Chapter, NSDAR, was held recently in the Terrell Building of Boiling Springs United Methodist |, Church. IY ort Chaplain Betty Hamrick gave the scripture and prayer. Regent Nancy Poston led the DAR Ritual, Linda Black led the Pledge to the United States Flag, and Rachel Jolley led the American’s Creed. Evelyn Dorsey, accompanied by Ann Lancaster on the piano led the National Anthem. Lancaster read the President Generals letter and Dorothy Bridges gave the National Defense Report. Margretta McKee read a Constitutional Sidelight. Jolley, Marissa Smith, and Poston gave a report on the 109th Continental Congress held recently at DAR Headquarters in Washington, D.C. Dorsey gave an up-date on the Korean War tributes and activities to be held during the year. Members were reminded to fly their flags on Memorial Day. District II Director Ann Lancaster reminded the Daughters of the District I Meeting and Workshop to be held July 20 at the Flint Hills Baptist Church. The Chapter will host this meet- ing and also another for the State Officers on the 19th at 5 p.m. at the Boiling Springs Baptist Church Fellowship hall. : Patricia W. Breuer was proposed as a prospec- tive member and was unanimously accepted by the Chapter. Hamrick installed a new officer, Rachel Jolley as Chaplain. Regent Poston introduced the speaker for the evening, Dorothy Sue Hamrick, who spoke on “The History of Boiling Tea.” Hamrick taught home economics for many years at Boiling Springs High School and Crest High School. Several of the DAR members were students of hers. State Fire College June 8-11 at Gaston The focal point of the facility is a five story, 21,000 square foot burn building. It is currently the largest type in the U.S. There are also various special situa- tion simulations located on the grounds.
