Page 2A Raymond James | opens in KM A trio of financial experts has opened a new office in Kings Mountain. Located at 105 Regal Drive, Suite 1, the team of William Marcellino, Terry Mason, and Teresa Williams will operate a branch of Raymond James Financial Services, Inc. Founded in 1962, Raymond James is one of the largest fi- nancial services firms in the na- tion with more than 1,700 loca- tions coast to coast. Based in Tampa, Florida, the company’s stock is traded on the NYSE un- der the symbol RJE. Branch manager Marcellino is a United States Marine Corps reserve Major. He has lived in Kings Mountain since 1995 and attends First Presbyterian Church with his wife Melissa and daughters four-year-old Brianna and nine-month old Reni. He formerly worked for Edward Jones Investments for seven years. Teresa Williams is a Kings Mountain native. She has a son, Brent, and has worked with Marcellino for 51/2 years. Terry Mason is from Gastonia. She and her husband Gary have two children and two grand- children. She has worked with Marcellino and Williams for a month. “We feel that we can serve our clients with the individual attention they deserve,” Marcellino said. Plans are for the partners to eventually occupy the property at 207 West Mountain Street that currently houses Mountaineer Video. Marcellino has retained architect Roger Holland of Shelby to remodel the structure. “We hope to be in the build- ing by March, 2001,” said Marcellino. Battle of Bands slated at gazebo A Battle of the Bands will be held during Xtreme Saturday October 21 in downtown Kings Mountain. The competition will run from 12 noon-5 p.m. at the Gazebo at Patriots Park. It will be open competition for local musicians. Cash and other prizes will be awarded to the top three bands. : “I've had a lot of teens com- plain that they want to hear their style of music in a concert environment,” noted Ellis Noell, Special Events Director for the City of Kings Mountain. “This competition will provide an excellent venue at the Gazebo at Patriots Park and al- low our young musicians an opportunity t to showcase their, talents.” Bands must preregister with» Noell at City Hall. Saturday's activities also in- clude the dedication of the new Harris Children’s Wing at Mauney Memorial Library at 10 a.m., extreme sports demonstra- tions from 11 a.m.-5 p.m., and a concert featuring The Fantastic Shakers from 8-11:30 p.m. Noell and Mayor Rick Murphrey will accompany win- ners of the recent “The Day the Mountain Spoke” essay contest to the 220th anniversary cele- bration of the Battle of Kings Mountain Saturday at Kings Mountain National Military Park. | The winners will gather at.the | Gazebo for a limousine ride to the Military Park. After the cele- bration, winners will return by limousine to Swoogers for a red, white and blue sundae, and back to the gazebo for closing ceremonies.
