A native of Gaston County, she was the daughter of the late Robert Louie and Lonnie Correll Ballard, and wife of the late Horace Brown. She was al- so preceded in death by her daughter, Linda E. Fuller; broth- ers, Ray and Wimpy Ballard; and sisters, Francis Abernathy and Helen Hudspeth. She was a member of the Spiritual Guidance Church, Mt. Holly. She was retired from J.P. Stevens, Stanley. She is survived by her sons, Albert Louie Cudd and wife, Lois, of Covington, GA, James W. Cudd and Ronnie Dale Brown of Stanley, and Robert A. Cudd and wife, Jackie, of Kings Mountain; daughter, Mary C. Steele and husband, John, of Kings Mountain; grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The funeral was conducted by Rev. Joe Small at 2 p.m. Sunday at Ollie Harris Memorial Chapel. Burial was in Mountain Rest Cemetery. Harris Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. MARY BRIDGEMAN KINGS MOUNTAIN- Mary Lee Bridgeman, 72, 1500 Dunes Drive, died November 19, 2000 at White Oak Manor, Kings Mountain. A native of Hickory Grove, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Boyce and Blanche Cobb Patterson and the wife of the late Walter Scott Bridgeman. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church, Kings Mountain and was a retired nurse at Kings Mountain Hospital. She is survived by her sons Larry W. Adams and wife Teresa of Charlotte and Michael Adams of Gaffney, S.C.; daugh- ter Sandra Testa and husband unin of Kings Mountain; brother: Kelly Patterson of Kings = Mountain; sister Louise Patterson Bauchman of Port Charlotte. Florida; grandchil- dren Eric Adams, Scott Adams, Debbie Nance Cox, Tonya Sloan, Paula Nance Page, Trent Testa and Kim Braunns. A native of Cherokee County, S.C., he was the husband of the late Helen Mayhue Foster and son of the late William E. and Ethel Mae Huffstetler Foster. He was also preceded in death by daughter Jeannie Foster and sister Elizabeth Rippy. He was a veteran of WWII in the U.S. Army. He is survived by brothers Max Foster of Churchville, MD, Harold Foster of Grover, and Stephen C. Foster of Blacksburg; sister Jo Ann Roundtree of Kings Mountain; grandson Tommy Foster of Columbia, S.C. Arrangements are incom- plete. SARAH LEMONS SHELBY- Sarah Lucille Lemons, 72, 1101 N. Morgan Street, died November 17, 2000 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin Elzie Lemons and Emma Sue Bailey. She was a member of Dover Baptist Church. She is survived by her broth- ers Floyd Lemons of Shelby, Larry Lemons of Shelby and Harold Lemons of Lattimore; sisters Joyce Gardner of Shelby, Susan Carpenter of Kings Mountain and Brenda Wheat of Gaffney; also five nieces and four nephews. The funeral was conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. at Cleveland ° Funeral Services Chapel by Rev. Phil Bailey. Burial was in Cleveland Memorial Park. She was preceded in death by her sons, Darrell and Steven Ray Goins. She is survived by her daugh- ters and son-in-law, Linda G. Thanksgiving service at Dixon Presbyterian Victory Baptist and Dixon Presbyterian churches will hold their annual joint Thanksgiving service Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Dixon Church, 602 Dixon School Road, Kings Mountain. Rev. Dennis Wells, pastor of Victory Baptist, will be the speaker. Choirs from both churches will present special music. Following the service, re- freshments will be served. The public is invited. The N.C. Highway Patrol al- so reported only a few more ac- cidents than normal due to the snow. Sgt. Benton in Shelby said his officers went to about a dozen accidents on Sunday. Even if the roads weren't par- ticularly slick, walking areas were. Joe Lord with the Cleveland County EMS report- ed that his people had a higher ‘than usual number of calls Sunday because of slips and falls. “One person fell off their roof,” Lord said. * All in all, the snow was one of those here today, gone to- morrow events that made for a good day watching the flakes drift down.
