Goode finished with 21 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Mountaineers. Josh Gash added 12 points and Byers had 10. David Smith led Shelby with 22 points. Petty had 16 and Patrick Vercher 12. Burns outscored the Mountaineers 14-3 in the third quarter to break open a close game and put KM back in the loser’s column in Friday's fifth place consolation game. The Bulldogs took Goode out of the game early by getting him in foul trouble. He rode the pine much of the first half be- cause of three fouls, and picked up his fourth early in the third quarter. A vehicle driven by Theodore Taylor Jr. of Charlotte was traveling north on I-85 near Dixon School Rd. when a tire blew out and caused him to hit a guard rail and culvert, and then overturn. Damage to the car was $5,000. Occupants were treated for injuries at Kings Mountain Hospital. Tyron Moore of Kings Mountain was charged with driving while li- cense revoked and having an open container after a 1988 Ford hit a guard rail on I85 South near exit 10B. Damage to the car was $800. The vehicle came to rest partially in the roadway and was struck by a vehicle driven by Herbert Davis of Spartanburg, SC. Damage to his car was $2,000. A 2001 Jeep driven by Chris Leonard of Douglasville, GA struck an icy patch at the I-85 /161 ramp, causing it to spin and cross both lanes of traffic and strike a guard rail in the median. It came off the guard rail and slid approximately 48 feet and came to rest on the top of the guard rail . Damage to the car was $20,000 A 1995 Ford driven by James Friday Jr. of Kings Mountain tried to avoid hitting another car on the 161/185 bridge, and grazed the bridge. Damage to the car was $50. Vehicles driven by Michael Kaminski of San Antonio, TX and Richard Clark of Kings Mountain struck on NC 161 at I85. Damage to the Kaminski car was $900 and damage to the Clark car was $700. Kaminski told officers the road was icy and he pumped his brakes to try to avoid hitting another vehicle which was sliding in front of him, causing him to swerve and strike Clark’s vehicle.
