Twelve members were present and en- joyed a dessert plate. Julia Hunt introduced Carl Elliott, who spoke to the group on how fund raising is benefi- cial for communities to achieve certain goals. Elliott outlined three areas the fund raiser is looking for: what the communi- ty needs; define the leadership of a community; and what will create a pattern of success. Elliott told members that the role of the fund raiser and the group involved can help to make communities unique. Fund raising can help a com- munity move forward and work with a unified purpose. Leadership in a group and community can help with growth and support. Elliott said he was impressed with Kings Mountain in that there was al- ways support for the various projects. The foundations, busi- nesses, the city, and the public and private sector have helped to make the community suc- cessful. “People here help make things happen,” he said. In closing, Elliott commented that a sense of community is a positive result of fund raising. “What is next?” Kings Mountain is growing and a good place to be.
