to church women
Julianna “Jan” Brittain of

the Kings Mountain Council of
Church Women's annual gath-
ering Thursday, May 3 at
Central United Methodist
Church, 113 South Piedmont
Avenue, Kings Mountain.
Co-host is Grace United
Methodist Church.
Fellowship begins at 6 p.m.
and the dinner is at 6:30. For

Brittain, an ordained Deacon
and Elder, is presently serving
her third year as pastor of New
Salem United Methodist
Church, Statesville District. She
served Salem UMC, Asheville
District, from 1994-1998 and
Salem/Clark’s Chapel Charge,
Asheville District, from 1991-
1994.
She served three churches in
Bristol, England from 1989-1991
on a Special Appointment by
the Bishop through the British
Methodist Church.
Brittain graduated in 1989
with honors from Candler
School of Theology, Emory
University. She received the
Faculty Award for Highest
Academic Excellence and
Faculty Award for Social
Concerns.
She graduated Pfeiffer
College, summa cum laude, in
1977 with a BA in Christian
Education and Business
Administration. She was listed
JAN BRITTAIN
in Who’s Who in American
Colleges and Universities. She
received the Pearl Fisher
Citizenship Award from the fac-
ulty, and was Homecoming
Queen.
She is married to Cecil
Donahue, also an Elder in
WNCC. They have two sons,
Wade, 16, and Riley, 13.
She received the 1996 Francis
Asbury Sermon Award from
the WNC Institute for
Homiletical Studies. She was a
delegate to the 2000 General
Conference of the United
Methodist Church.
She is the daughter of Rev.
Tom and Jean Brittain,

Schools will be holding kinder-
garten registration / orientation
Friday, April 27.
Parents should call the school
in their attendance zone to find
out specific times and other in-
formation.
The program will be held at
North, West, East, Bethware
and Grover schools. Children
must be five years of age on or
before October 16 to enroll in
the program.
The following information
must be presented to be filed in
the school office:
- Legal birth certificate issued
by the Register of Deeds in the
county in which the child was
born.
- The child’s social security
card.
- Proof of immunization.
State law requires the following
minimum does:
5 DTP, DtaP, or DT doses (if
the 4th dose is after the 4th
birthday, 5th dose is not re-
quired. DT requires medical ex-
emption).
4 polio vaccine doses (if 3rd
dose is after the 4th birthday,
4th dose is not required).
1-4 Hib doses (series is com-
plete if at least one dose is given
on/after 15 months and before
five years of age; not required
after age five).
3 Hep B doses.
2 Measles doses (at least 30
days apart; 1st dose on/after 12
months of age).
1 Mumps dose (on/after 12
months of age).
1 Rubella dose (on/after 12
months of age).

Charles Estes Parton, 87, died
April 17, 2001 at Wendover in.
Shelby.
A native of Claiborne, TN, he
was the son of the late Joseph E.
Parton and Martha Gibson
Parton. He was also preceded in
death by his brother, Tommy
Neal Parton Sr.
He was retired from Western
Auto and was a member of
Temple Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife,
Etta McFalls Parton of Kings
Mountain; son, Bobby McFalls
and wife, Shirley, of Charlotte;
daughter, Brenda Ross and hus-
band, Jerry, of Kings Mountain;
sisters, Olive Hunley and hus-
band, Charles, of Cumberland
Gap, TN; sister-in-law, Wilma
Parton of Kings Mountain;
grandchildren, Tammy
Thornburg and husband Lanny,
Tony Putnam and husband
Robert, Tim Ross and. wife
Debbie, Jeff McFalls and wife

and Wray Barrett at. 10:30 a.m.

RONALD PRINCE
NORTH MYRTLE BEACH,
SC - Ronald Wade Prince, 54,
died April 16, 2001 at Seacoast
Medical Center.
A native of Charlotte, he was
the son of Margaret Long Prince
and the late Coran Ellis Prince.
He was owner of Ron's
Maintenance Service and was
an Army veteran.
He is also survived by his
sons, Ron Prince and wife
Deborah, Rodney Prince and
wife Candy, all of Charlotte,
and Andy Locklear of North
Myrtle Beach; his fiancee, Sue
Garrett of North Myrtle Beach;
three brothers, Bobby Prince
and Gene Prince of Charlotte
and Ray Prince of’ Mount Holly;
and sistet, Sissy Clark of
Conway, SC.
A private burial will be held
in National Cemetery in
Salisbury at a later date.

County, he was the son of the

Carico Wray. He was a member
of Penley’s Chapel Church,
Kings Mountain, and was re-
_ tired from the textile industry.
He is survived by his wife,

SC, he was the son of the late

Lester McCraw. He was em-
ployed in industrial construc-
tion and was a member of Kirby
Memorial Baptist Church in
Gaffney, SC.
He is survived by his wife,
Diane Wilson McCraw of the
