Cnty Divas Will Do Summer school schedule set BY BEN LEDBETTER Staff Writer With the end of school near- ing for Kings Mountain stu- dents, summer school will be starting. Sessions will be held to meet both local and state require- ments. There will be sessions for stu- dents for passing the North Carolina Competency Test and the North Carolina Computer Skills requirements. Executive Director for Instructional Services, John Goforth said the district is one of the top six in the state and 95 percent of all students pass the computer test. The test consists of two parts, a multiple choice section and a performance section. In the performance section, students must solve problems summer school to get promot- ed.” Goforth said this will be the first year for the Gateway test which is a test fifth grade stu- dent must demonstrate grade level work before being pro- moted. He said students will have three chances to pass the test, with the third time in summer school.
