Aileen Ramsey Metcalf, 74,

Shelby, died Friday, April 20,
2001 at Cleveland Regional
Medical Center, Shelby.
A native of Cleveland
5 County, she was the daughter
of the late Harvey and Carrie
L.A. Pruette Ramsey. She was
preceded in death by her
daughter, Mildred Joyce
Metcalf; brothers, Fred Ramsey
and Melvin Ramsey; and sister,
Betty Jo Ramsey.
I= She was retired from the tex-
tile industry.
She is survived by her son,
Lawrence Douglas Houser and
2 wife, Sandra Jean, of Shelby;
brothers, Robert Ramsey and
Harold Ramsey of Kings
-1. Mountain; grandchildren,
Regina Aileen Carter, Donna
Cody, Teresa LaRette, and Lori
Allen; and eight great-grand-
= children.
The funeral was conducted
by the Rev. Bob Hope at 3:30
p.m. Monday at Ollie Harris
Memorial Chapel. Burial was in
Mountain Rest Cemetery.
Harris Funeral Home was in
charge of arrangements.

KINGS MOUNTAIN - Lee
Edward Mabry, 72, 2061
Bethlehem Road, died April 20,
2001 at Cleveland Regional
Medical Center, Shelby.
A native of Union, SC, he was
the son of the late Wade and
Agnes Fowler Mabry. He was
also preceded in death by a
grandson, Chad Smith; and his
sister, Grace Hall.
He was a member of Love
Valley Baptist Church and was
retired from Kings Mountain
Mica Company.
He is survived by his wife,
Marie Black Mabry of the home;
daughter, Lois Smith and hus-
band, Ronnie, of Grover; broth-
ers, Bobby Earl Mabry of
Grover and William Shatley of
Gaffney, SC; sisters, Lois
McAbee of Gaffney, SC, Johnnie
Yarborugh of Blacksburg, SC,
and June Gardner of
Spartanburg, SC; and grand-
daughter, Dwan Smith of
Grover.
The funeral was conducted
by the Revs. Barry Philbeck and
Jerry Allen at 2 p.m. Monday at
Love Valley Baptist Church.
Burial was in Grover Cemetery.
Harris Funeral Home was in
charge of arrangements.

Leigh Mauney Broadwell, 51,
406 Garrison Drive, died April
23,2001 at her home.
She was a native of
Mecklenburg County, and a
member of St. Matthew's
Lutheran Church where she
was a former choir member and
former member of the Church
Council. She was a member of
the Board of Directors of
Mauney Hosiery Mill.
She was a graduate of Salem
Academy and attended Lenoir
Rhyne College. She was an avid
golfer and former Ladies Club
* Champion. She was a member
of the Bridge Club and the
Kings Mountain Garden Club.
She was a homemaker.
She is survived by her hus-
band, EJ. “Jerry” Broadwell III
of Kings Mountain; sons, Rich
Turner of the US Army based in
Germany, and Ryan Broadwell
of Mountain City, TN; daugh-
ters, Talie Turner of Charlotte
and Jennifer Broadwell of
Asheville; parents, W.K.
Mauney Jr. and Mary Simpson
Mauney of Kings Mountain;
brother, W.K. “Kemp” Mauney
III and wife, Debbie, of Kings
Mountain; and sisters, Sarah
Frances Faunce and husband,
David, and Martha Jane
Mauney, all of Kings Mountain.
A memorial service will be
conducted by the Revs. Ralph
Wallace, Edgar Cooper and
James Dougherty at 2 p.m.
Thursday at St. Matthew's
Lutheran Church. Visitation
will be immediately following
the service in the church fellow-
ship hall.

A graduate of Cliffside High
School, he was employed by
Cone Mills, Cliffside Plant for
over 30 years where he worked
his way up from sweeper to
mill superintendent. He retired
in 1980 from Reeves Brothers,
Ruth plant where he served as
supervisor for 13 years. He also
worked as a part-time electri-
cian for many years in the
Cliffside community.
He was a member of
Aldersgate United Methodist
Church, the Baxter-Davis
Sunday School Class and the
Young at Heart Club. He was a
former member and deacon of
Cliffside Baptist Church. He
was a World War II veteran in
the Army Corp of Engineers,
serving in the Philippines,
Okinawa and Korea. He was a
member of Cliffside Masonic
Lodge #460.AF & AM wherd he
served as secretary for many
years. He was a member of the
Cleveland County Men's Senior
Golf Association and the
American Legion.
The funeral will be conducted
by Dr. Dolores Queen at 2 p.m.
Thursday at Aldersgate United
Methodist Church. Burial will
bein Cliffside Cemetery.

p.m. at the church.

finalize plans for their annual
banquet on May 3 at 6 p.m. at
Central United Methodist
Church

co-hosts.
