KM golfers 11th
in state tourney
Kings Mountain High's golf
team finished 11th in the State
3A tournament last week at
Woodbridge Golf Club in Vass.
+ Hickory won the team cham-
pionship with a 597 score.
Kings Mountain finished with a
027-322-640. R-S Central fin-
ished 210 with a 659.
Individual scores for the
Mountainecrs were Justin Etters
75-76--151, Gray Howard 80-75-
-155, Josh Etters 86-85--171,
Chad Bridges 87-86--173, and
Chris Jolly 93-86--179.
“I am proud of the way this
team played throughout the
year,” said first-year coach
Kevin Moss, whose team quali-
fied by finishing second in the
Western Regional. “I know the
guys are disappointed with our
performance in the state tourna-
ment, but they have no reason
to hang their heads.
“There are a lot of teams in
the state who would have loved
to have the opportunity to play
in the State Championship
Tournament. This was a learn-
ing experience for our team. We
played in the same group with
Hickory on both days and we
got the experience to see what it
takes to win a state champi-
onship. Hopefully, that will be a
motivational experience for our
guys next year.
“Justin Etters, who is our on-
ly senior, played well on both
days. I am happy for him that
he went out on a strong note.
He played very consistently on
both days on a difficult course.”
