May 24, 2001 KM golfers 11th in state tourney Kings Mountain High's golf team finished 11th in the State 3A tournament last week at Woodbridge Golf Club in Vass. + Hickory won the team cham- pionship with a 597 score. Kings Mountain finished with a 027-322-640. R-S Central fin- ished 210 with a 659. Individual scores for the Mountainecrs were Justin Etters 75-76--151, Gray Howard 80-75- -155, Josh Etters 86-85--171, Chad Bridges 87-86--173, and Chris Jolly 93-86--179. “I am proud of the way this team played throughout the year,” said first-year coach Kevin Moss, whose team quali- fied by finishing second in the Western Regional. “I know the guys are disappointed with our performance in the state tourna- ment, but they have no reason to hang their heads. “There are a lot of teams in the state who would have loved to have the opportunity to play in the State Championship Tournament. This was a learn- ing experience for our team. We played in the same group with Hickory on both days and we got the experience to see what it takes to win a state champi- onship. Hopefully, that will be a motivational experience for our guys next year. “Justin Etters, who is our on- ly senior, played well on both days. I am happy for him that he went out on a strong note. Girls basketball camp at KM High Kings Mountain High girls basketball coach Kevin Moss will be running a Future Stars Girls Basketball Camp July 9-13 from 8 a.m.-12 noon at the KMHS gym.
