Si . | er June 28, 2001 RESID The Kings Mountain Herald KM POLICE REPORT Kings Mountain men face sex charges Cleveland County Sheriff's Department Monday arrested a Kings Mountain man on nu- merous sex charges. Thomas Alfred Shrewsbury, 51, of 101 Cheryl Court, was charged with one count of first degree kidnapping, three counts of first degree sexual of- fense, three counts of taking in- decent liberties with a child, and two counts of crime against nature. He was jailed under a $250,000 secured bond in Cleveland County. According to Investigator R.W. Beaver, the alleged inci- dents involved a 10-year-old child who is not related to Shrewsbury. Beaver said the in- cidents were reported to have occurred during the week of May 14 and were reported about a week later. According to Beaver, the inci- dents allegedly occurred in Shrewsbury’s home. ® Another Kings Mountain man has been charged by Kings Mountain police in an oleae sex case. Daniel Yagene Loftin, 38, of 415 Bennett Street, faces one count of first degree sexual of- fense and one count of taking indecent liberties with a child. Brenda Foster, 805 Second St., reported that someone shot a BB gun at a pool and caused $700 damage to the liner and siding. Sarah Lee, 705 W. Canterbury Rd., reported receiving a bomb threat. The building was evacu- ated and police conducted a search. A bomb was not found. WRECKS Vehicles driven by Kenneth Eudy and Linda Hawk, both of Kings Mountain, and Timothy Addington of Shelby struck on Highway 74 at NC 161. Damage to the Eudy vehicle was $500, damage to the Hawk vehicle was $1,500, and damage to the Addington vehicle was $1,500. Addington was cited for failure to reduce speed and no opera- tor’s license. A city vehicle operated by Donald Spencer of Kings Mountain was backing up and hit a pump station at Pott Creek Rd. near U.S. 74 Bypass. Damage to the vehicle was $100 and damage to the pump sta- tion was $200. A parked vehicle owned by Kenny Silver of Kings & ‘Mountain was struck by a vehi cle which left the scene on Alpine Dr. at Northwoods Dr. Damage to the Silver vehicle was $500. Vehicles driven by Nancy Bell and Arlin Wilson, both of Kings Mountain, struck on W. Mountain at Sims St. Damage to the Bell car was $4,000 and damage to the Wilson vehicle was $8,000. Bell was cited for an unsafe movement. A vehicle driven by Jeffrey Randolph hit a utility pole on U.S. 74 Business at Gaston St. Damage to the car was $2,000. Randolph was cited for driving without a license. Vehicles driven by Alfred Biggerstaff of Kings Mountain and Jacqueline Wooten of Bessemer City struck on NC 161 near US 74 Business. Damage to each vehicle was $1,000. A vehicle driven by Avery McMurry of Shelby left the road on NC 161 and struck a mailbox and speed limit t sign and came to rest in the parking lot of Harris Welco. Damage to the car was $1,000. Zimmerman returns home from Mediterranean Sea The Cleveland County Sheriff's Department last week arrested Bobby Ray Carpenter, 402 W. Lime Street, Blacksburg, SC on one count of first degree statutory rape and one county of taking indecent liberties with: a child. According to the Sheriff's Office, the alleged incident oc- curred in December 2000 at a home in Cleveland County. The alleged victim was 13 years old at the time.
