This year’s rodeo will be Bart's Domain Bart Douglas’s love for rodeo turns Clover farm into arena By BEN LEDBETTER Staff Writer The ghosts in the movie Field of Dreams said, “If you build it they will come.” Bart Douglas did just that, but not for baseball. B&B Arena which sits on the Douglas family farm in Clover, S.C. will be the site of a rodeo July 20-21, starting at 8 p.m. Douglas, who has been in- . volved with rodeos for eight years, said his family has al- ways had its 100 acre farm, which sits near the family’s home. He had already had a pin at the farm. “I ended up buying bucking shoots and bought lights,” Douglas said. “It developed in- to a slow process.” It took two years to get to ev- erything organized in the arena, Douglas said. One of the toughest events in the rodeo, riding bareback, has also been a rewarding one for Douglas. He has won three bareback championships, but he said it is a tough event. “It can be pretty difficult,” Douglas said. “You have to go to a lot of rodeos. To get to the rodeo from Kings Mountain, take Highway 161 to South Carolina. Drive ap- proximately one mile past Highway 55. Look for the sign for B&B Arena and make a right on Beamguard Road. For more information call 803- 222-4924. Golf tournaments set at Country Club Four golf tournaments are slated at Kings Mountain Country Club. The President’s Cup for KM- CC members will be held July 14115. The Individual Match Play Tournament for KMCC mem- bers will be played July 16- ~ October 5. A Junior Golf Clinic will be held July 17-21 from 8 a.m.-12 noon. The fee is $75. The Cleveland County Amateur will be played August 17-19 at KMCC, Cleveland Country Club and Riverbend. It is open to Cleveland County residents. During July and August, there will be special rates for the public at KMCC. A free 18- hole round of golf will be of- fered after one plays four rounds at $20 weekdays and $27 weekends.
