July 12, 2001 EEN Se The Kings Mountain Herald. ARTI a KM POLICE REPORT Page 7A Police investigating alleged embezzlement, larceny Kings Mountain Police are in- vestigating an alleged embez- zlement of money from Pizza Hut Inc., Highway 74 at Spring Street. According to a report filed by Ptl. L.D. Howell on July 2, three bags with deposits from June 29 and 30 and July 1 totalling $5,602 cash and $433.90 in checks were allegedly taken from the business by an em- ployee at 11:30 p.m. on July 1 and should have been deposit- ed the following morning. According to the report, the de- posits were not made and the employee has not returned to work. According to Ptl. Howell's re- port, officers went to a room at a local hotel where the employ- ee was staying and found two deposit bags with the checks and deposit tickets inside; how- ever, the cash was not in the bags. His belongings were still in the room, so fearing a possi- ble abduction the employee has been listed as a missing person. B Police are also investigat- ing the theft of $3,500 from Hidden Treasures, 101 South Battleground Avenue on June 29. According to a report filed by Cpl. Tony Reeves, an employee said someone went behind the counter at the business and took three bank envelopes con- taining the money out of her pocketbook. The employee told police that she was in the process of mov- ing merchandise out of the building and. only two other people had been inside the building on that date. Bm The City of Kings Mountain reported two sepa- rate incidents of someone breaking into vehicles and steal- ing items at the Public Works Building at 1013 North Piedmont Avenue. At 8:45 a.m. Thursday, Randy Conner of the Public Works Department reported that someone broke into a toolbox on-a-1989-Chevrolet truck and stole $500 worth of assorted wrenches, screw drivers and sockets. There was damage re- ported to the top of the toolbox. Cpl. Reeves said it appeared the tool box was pried open and the suspect(s) may have gained entry to the Public Works facili- ty through an opening in the fence near the east side of the garage. At 9:50 a.m., Public Works employee Bob Boles reported that someone had pried open the toolbox on another vehicle and stole $1,000 worth of assort- .ed tools, $150 worth of hand tools, an Allen wrench pack val- ued at $20, and $500 worth of tools out of the bucket of the ve- hicle. Other items such as a ratchet, level, set of sockets and sledge hammers were stolen. There was damage to the tool box and a lock. BH Police were called to Kings Mountain Hospital on July 3 at 10:56 p.m. in regards to an accidental shooting. Det. Derek Johnson said Shanna D. Moore, 23, of 48 Julian St. Apt. B dropped a. handgun on the ground at her residence, and when it hit the ground it discharged and hit her in the left arm. Johnson said she was hospitalized overnight for treatment and released the next day.
