Cleveland Foundation accepting applications Cleveland County Community Foundation is ac- cepting applications from non- profit organizations for its Grants Program. The program provides funds to launch new programs or innovative ap- proaches to address community needs. Priority will be given to “seed grants” for projects that cannot be covered by the normal bud- gets of existing charitable agen- cies. Deadline for applications is august 31. Bloodmobile August 2 at Grace Methodist There will be a bloodmobile at Grace United Methodist Church, Kings Mountain, August 2 from 1:30-6 p.m. All blood types are needed to replenish a dangerously low blood supply, according to Sandi Bolick of the American Red Cross. To donate, one must be at least 17 years old and weigh at least 110 pounds and be in gen- eral good health. For more information call 487-8594. Bolick said this may be the most critical period for blood collections in Cleveland County history. “Blood collections are tradi- tionally low during the sum- mer, with many regular donors on vacation and away from nor- mal routines,” she said. “But the fact that Cleveland County has lost sponsors due to plant closings and layoffs has added an extra problem for collecting the blood our region and area hospitals need.” Alzheimer’s Support group to meet August 13 ‘The Alzheimer’s Support Group will meet Monday, August 13 at 7 p.m. at Kings Mountain Senior Center, 301 North Piedmont Avenue.
