NY er AI The New Season TRONMEN From Page 5 Wilson's initial Cherryville squad finished at 3-8. Better times are expected in 2001 and Moss and Craft will be right there in the middle of things. Last year when the Ironmen entertained county foe Bessemer City at homecoming, coach Wilson invited the three living members of the original Ironmen to join in the toss of the coin at midfield prior to the start of the game, and of course, the elder Craft was there. Eli Craft, cousin of Wayne Craft, also played on that crack 1934 outfit that defeated Lincolnton, Shelby, Cliffside, Forest City, Rutherfordton, Morganton and a local all-star crew while deadlocking NCSD, Blacksburg and Kings Mountain. The names of Moss and Craft have carried on down the years of Cherryville football and thanks to two boys named Chris, the tradition is carried on in 2001 - 67 years after granddads T.A. and Wayne started it. Both elders Moss and Craft actually started playing football in 1932 and the ‘34 season marked their senior year. Cherryville's Ironmen will hit the road for five games during the 2001 prep season.
