died October 18, 2001 at his
home.
A native of Gaston County,
he was the son of the late Joe
Lane and Stella Fincannon
Putnam. He was also preceded
in death by his brother,
Lawrence Edward Putnam, and
sisters, Frances Eaker and Joyce
Homesley.
He was a member of Long
Creek Presbyterian Church. He
was a Mason and member of
Fairview Masonic Lodge. He
was former supervisor at
Burlington Industries, Kings
Mountain, and he served in the
United States Army during
* World War II.
He is survived by his wife of
57 years, Wilma “Bill” Isler
Putnam of Kings Mountain;
son, Roger Putnam and wife

Thomas McCoy Jenkins, 90,
White Oak Manor, formerly of
Charlotte, died October 19, 2001
at White Oak Manor.
A native of Gaston County,
he was the son of the late
George Robert and Dixie
Jenkins. He was the husband of
the late Bynum Rush Jenkins.
He was also preceded in death
by his sister, Mabel Wilkinson.
He was a member of-Central
United Methodist Church. He
was retired from the textile in-
dustry.
He is survived by his son,
Tommy Jenkins and wife Betty
Jane of Kings Mountain; daugh-
ter, Mary Jo Stimson and hus-
band David of Knoxville, TN;
brother-in-law, Edward
Wilkinson of Mt. Holly; four
grandchildren, three step-
grandchildren, three great
grandchildren, seven step-great

great great grandchildren.

Department is investigating a
house fire last week at 206 East
King Street.
Lt. Det. Derek Johnson said
the arson task force is investi-
' ‘gating the fire as suspicious.
The home, owned by Mike
Brown, was vacant at the time
of the fire.
' Estimated damage was
$50,000.
Sgt. H.W. Carpenter of KM-
PD said the house was “fully
engulfed” when he arrived at.
