30, 2001 at Kings Mountain
Hospital.
A native of Gaston County,
she was the daughter of the late
James Willie and Hattie Hoyle
Downey and wife of the late
Jessie Richard Smith. She was
also preceded in death by her .
brother, Jim Downey; sister and
brother-in-law, Barbara and Joe
Black; and great-grandchildren,
Joseph Quay Dockery and
Alexa Paige Dockery.
She was formerly employed
by McGill Clinic and Kings
Mountain Hospital.
She is survived by her son,
Richard Smith of South
Carolina; mother-in-law,
Arizona Smith of Gastonia; sis-
ter-in-law, Elizabeth Cobb of
Gastonia; daughter and son-in-
law, Sonya and Jason Curtis of
Kings Mountain; daughter-in-
law, Dee Smith of Charlotte;
aunt, Grace Whitesides of
Virginia; brothers and sisters-in-

was a member of PEO, former

ber of several Bridge clubs. She
was a homemaker.

president of the Seniors
Auxiliary at the church.
