Burning ban lifted in North Carolina The recent burning ban of open fires in North Carolina has been lifted. ‘Burning permits may be ob- tained at Bridges Hardware Home Center in Kings Mountain and Tom's Family Mart in Oak Grove. KM gets $362,977 in Powell Bill funds ' The City of Kings Mountain recently received $362,977.78 in Powell Bill funds. Grover re- ceived $28,676.77. The funds are generated by the state gas tax and other high- way user fees, and are dis- persed annually using a formu- la set by the N.C. General Assembly. Seventy-five percent of the funds are based on popu- "lation, and 25 percent is based on the number of city-owned | streets. The State DOT allocated a record $135.4 million to 500 mu- nicipalities across the State.
