She is the daughter of Philip and Michelle Kaylor D"Angelo. Grandparents are Leland and Sheryl Meacham of Kings Mountain, Rick Kaylor of Gastonia, and Rev. and Mrs. Bob D'Angelo of Springfield, WV. Great-grandparents are Walter and Yvonne Brodnax of Kings Mountain, and Ruby Kaylor of Gastonia. Great-great grandmother is Pearl Aldridge of Gastonia. Her uncle is Chuck Kaylor of Chapel Hill. She weighed six pounds, 15 ounces and was 18 1/2 inches long. Parents are Chris and Lee Loveless of Blacksburg, SC. Maternal grandparents are Marie Wray of Blacksburg and the late Carl Wray, and the late Mike and Dottie Loveless. Kerns receives Silver Beaver Butch Kerns of Kings Mountain was one of six top volunteers receiving the Silver Beaver Award by the Piedmont Council, Boy Scouts of America, at its 79th annual Volunteer Recognition Banquet held February 20 at the Lincolnton Citizens Center in Lincolnton. The Silver Beaver Award is given to volunteer Scouters for noteworthy service of exception- al character to youth. It is the highest honor a local Boy Scout Council can bestow upon an adult volunteer. The Council awards the Silver Beaver based on service and outstanding performance as a volunteer Scouter. The Piedmont Council covers 11 a a COOKING CORNER The Kings Mountain Herald counties in Western North Carolina, serving over 18,042 youth and 5,000 adult volun- teers. Kerns, who is president of Kerns Trucking Inc. in Kings Mountain, has been an active member of the Piedmont Council Executive Board for over 15 years. He has served in several capacities on the Council level including Council Scout Show Chairman, Council Scout Show Ticket Sales Chairman, Camp Inspection Committee, Rendezvous Committee, Eagle Banquet Committee, and United Way Representative. Kerns has supported special camp projects of Camp Bud Schiele. On the district level, Kerns served as Battleground District . Chairman for 1998-2001, and has also served as District Scouting for Food Chairman and Scout Show Chairman. He has been instrumental in the Friends of Scouting program and served as Kings Mountain Division Chairman for two years. He has served as a Friends of Scouting volunteer for 15 years. On the unit level, he serves as a Cub Scout Den Leader for Pack 21 chartered by Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Gastonia. Kerns has also been an active member of his church and com- munity.
