A vehicle driven by Deena Pruitt of Kings Mountain was struck by an unknown vehicle in the parking lot of Harris Teeter. Damage was $1,200. BEAL KINGS MOUNTAIN - Raymond J. Beal, 74, 412 Alan Drive, died march 28, 2002 at Hospice/Wendover, Shelby. A native of Mecklenburg County, he was the son of the late Joe T. and Bonnie Earl Beal. He was a member of First Baptist Church and the Serenity Club. He was retired from Glen Raven Mills, Kings Mountain. He served in the U.S. Navy. He is survived by his wife, Laverne Hilton Beal of Kings Mountain; son, Daniel K. Beal of Fayetteville; daughter, Sheila B. Goodson of Maiden; grand- children, Shane Goodson of Gastonia, Marcus Goodson and wife Kim of Catawba, and Bridgett Goodson and Natalie Goodson of Maiden; and great- grandchildren, Lacie Lancy and Bailee Goodson. A graveside service was con- ducted by Chaplain David Fambrough at 2 p.m. Saturday at Mountain Rest Cemetery. GRACE WOOD KANNAPOLIS - Grace Hamrick Wood, 94, longtime resident of Kannapolis and for- merly of Kings Mountain, died March 29, 2002 at Maryfield Nursing Home, High Point. A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of Albert and Amanda Hamrick. She was educated at Wingate College and and Appalachian State Teachers College and taught school for a number of years in Cleveland County. In 1940 she moved to Kannapolis where she taught in the Kannapolis City and Cabarrus County Schools until her retirement. Following retire- ment, she was a volunteer read- ing instructor. She was an active member of First Baptist Church, Kannapolis, serving as a deacon and library volunteer as well as in numerous other capacities. She was a member of the: and the Centergrove: Demonstration Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, B.G. “Sam” Wood. She is survived by her daugh- ters, Janice Carter of Blowing Rock, Sandy Hyder of Huntersville, and Becky Shinn of Concord; seven grandchil- dren and six great-grandchil- dren. A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late ~ Tom and Bessie Hart Wright. She was also preceded in death by three = brothers, Thomas, Herman and Robert Wright; and two sisters, Lola Mae d Wright and WEE Juanita W. oly Starr. She was an active member of Bynum Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church where she held the offices of Deaconess, trustee, member of the Stewardess Board and Senior Choir. She was a fourid- ing member of Adah Chapter No. 7, Order of the Eastern Star. She was retired from Freightliner Inc., Mount Holly. She also worked for Mauney Hosiery Mills, City of Kings Mountain, and Cleveland Community College. She is survived by her hus- band of 53 years, Luico W. Wilson Sr.; four children, Luico W. Wilson Jr. of Fallston, Debbie W. Crocker and Archie of Kings Mountain, Fredrick Wilson of Tulsa, OK, and Billie Faye W. Moss and Curtis of Gastonia; two foster sons, Denorris Wilson Sr. and Rev.
