KM Class of ‘52
reunion Sept. 27
The Kings Mountain High
School Class of 1952 will
hold its 50th year celebra-
tion September 27-28.
A steak cookout will be
held on Friday, Sept. 27 at
Lake Montonia. Afterward,
classmates and their guests
will attend the KMHS home-
coming football game at
John Gamble Stadium.
On Saturday, Sept. 28 the
class will meet for its “Blast
to the Past” reunion at Joyce
Performance Center (the old
Joy Theatre at the corner of
Railroad Avenue and
Mountain Street).
Hors d'oeuvres will be
served and there will be
plenty of entertainment and
musical selections presented
= by the Kings Mountain
Little Theatre. The group
will also see old movies
from their school days and
have a class picture taken in
front of Joy Performance
Center.

The observance will begin
with an hour presentation at
the Confederate monument
on Main St. Guest speaker is
Dr. Michael Hill, President
of the League of the South
At 10:30 there will be a
1.5-mile walk through
downtown Chester to
Evergreen Cemetery for a
memorial service dedicated
to Confederate soldiers
buried at the site.
The event is free and open
to the public.

15th annual Kings Mountain
District Schools service
awards banquet Monday
night at Kings Mountain
High School.
Included in the list of hon-
orees were 20 certified
employees and 16 support
personnel.
Marcy Hamrick, a teacher
at North School, was recog-
nized for 35 years of service;
and Joe Whitesides, school
food services worker at
KMHS, was recognized for
34 years of service.
