Church softball
league begins play
The Kings Mountain Area
Church Softball League
recently began play with a
pre-season tournament at
Macedonia Baptist Church
field. First Wesleyan defeat-
ed Christian Freedom in the
championship game of the
7-team double-elimination
cvent.
Regular season play is
now underway. Churches
participating are Macedonia
Baptist, Bright Light Baptist
of Bessemer City, Carolina
Worship & Praise and
Harvest Time Ministries of
Grover, Christian Freedom,
East Gold Wesleyan, First
Baptist, First Wesleyan;
Kings Lighthouse, Love
Valley, Patterson Grove,
David Baptist, Oak Grove
Baptist, and Shady Grove
Baptist.
All games are played at
Macedonia field and the
public is invited to attend.
Games are played on
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday
and Friday at 6:30, 7:30 and
8:30.
There will be opportuni-
ties for the teams and fans to
support various community
activities such as food drives
for the needy.

camp for less experienced
players, or an evening camp
for players who have three
to four years experience and
want to develop their per-
sonal skills with intensive
individual training.
Ny camps will run
from June 3-7 from 9 a.m.-
12 noon at Graham
Elementary in Shelby. Small,
sided games will be played
each day at 11:30. Campers
will receive individual atten-
tion, a t-shirt and a certifi-
cate as well as have second-
ary accidental insurance in
case of injury.
A camp director will be on
site each morning at 7:45 to
accommodate working par-
ents. A second week of the
day camp will be offered
June 24-28 at Davidson Park
in Kings Mountain.
A skills camp will be
offered from 6:30-8 p.m. for
more advanced players at
Davidson Park and June 24-
28 at Shelby High.
The cost for the day camp
is $55 and cost of the skills

The Future Stars
Basketball Camp for Girls
will be held July 8-12 from 8
a.m.-12 noon at Kings
Mountain High School.
Rising second through
eighth graders are invited to
participate.
The cost is $50 and
includes a camp T-shirt, cer-
tificate, basketball, and tro-
phies for outstanding
campers. A $25 deposit is
due by June 14.

Volleyball camp
set at KM High
The 2002 KMHS volleyball
camp will be held June 24-27
from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. in the
school gym.
Rising 7th, 8th and 9th
grade students may partici-
pate. :
Campers will be taught
techniques and skills in set-
ting, serving, hitting, pass-
ing, blocking and digging.
All proceeds will go
toward the KMHS volleyball
program. No money will go
to camp staff.
The cost is $40 prior to
June 7 and $50 afterward.

The camp is open to rising
second through 9th graders.

and the other half being due
on the first day of camp.

$40.
The fee includes instruc-
tion, insurance, a camp t-
shirt, sill work, drill work
and guest-speakers. Base
running, bunting, catching,
fielding, hitting, pitching
and throwing will be
emphasized.
