The bride-to-be is a graduate of King Mountain High School and a cum laude graduate of Belmont Abbey College where she was a member of Kappa Delta Pi Honor Society and made the National Dean's List of America and the president's and dean’s lists at Belmont Abbey. She is employed as a teacher with Gaston County School System at Carr Elementary in Dallas. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Terrell Crocker of Cherryville and Mrs. Wilma Putnam of Kings Mountain and the late Glenn Putnam. The bridegroom-to-be is a graduate of Crest High School. He attended Southeastern Community College in Whiteville on an athletic scholarship. He was a member of the baseball team. He is employed by Reliance Electric of Kings Mountain. He is the grandson of Mrs. Margaret Williams of Greensboro, the late Hugh Mauney of Lattimore and the late Mr. and Mrs. George Lookadoo of Shelby. A July 27 wedding is planned. PAUL JASON LANCASTER (Kimberly Jean Scruggs) Lancaster-Scruggs Kimberly Jean Scruggs of Shelby and Paul Jason Lancaster of Lattimore exchanged marriage vows June 1 at Elizabeth Baptist Church in Shelby. Rev. Terry Jordan officiated. Jo Boggs, organist; Lydia Scruggs, pianist; and Jeff Ross, soloist, presented a program of wed- ding music. The bride is the daughter of Vicki Howze of Shelby and Gary Howze of Kings Mountain. She is a graduate of Appalachian State University, where she was a cheer- leader. She is employed in the Finance Department at C.A. Short & Company. The groom is the son of Paul and Anna - Lancaster of Shelby. He is a graduate of Appalachian State University and is employed by Carpenter Glenn Williams Construction. The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a satin dress with spaghetti straps with a deep-scooped neckline deco- rated with sequins and bugle beads. The dress was pearl in color and had a low cut back which was decorated with rosettes and had a princess skirt line. She carried a bouquet which was hand-tied in all white with roses. Matron of honor was Amber Blackwell. Maid of honor was Kelli Howze. Bridesmaids were Jennifer Lassiter of Mt. Holly, Tina Melton of Rutherfordton, Wendey Holley of Gastonia, and Laura Melton of Shelby. They wore dresses with a dramatic crisscross back and round neck in frorit. The dresses had ‘an A-line skirt and ~were-black'in color. Their bouquets were hand-tied in a variety of vibrant colors. Ring bearer was Bailey Melton and flower girl was Jennifer Scruggs. Paul Lancaster was his son’s best man. Ushers were Steven Blackwell of Shelby, Chad Melton of Rutherfordton, Shannon Scoggins of Atlanta, Todd Melton of Shelby, and Bart Lassiter of Mt. Holly. Family and friends of the couple hosted the wedding reception at the church fellow- ship hall. Anna and Paul Lancaster hosted the rehearsal dinner at North Lake Country Club. The couple took a wedding trip to Ocho Rios, Jamaica. Sloan Jr. officiated. A dinner and dance reception followed at the Park Inn and Gateway Conference Center in Hickory. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Tittle of Gastonia. She is the grand- daughter of Mrs. Lois E. Tittle of Kings Mountain Roy W. Tittle of Charlotte, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Harold W. O’Shields of Charlotte. She is a graduate of Kings Mountain High School and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Terry McGrath of Greensboro. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Edward M. Lawrence of Greensboro and Mrs. Louise McGrath and the late Arthur McGrath of Rutherfordton. A rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom's parents at the Park Inn and Gateway Conference Center on Friday night. A bridesmaids luncheon was hosted by Mrs. Barbara Freeze, godmother of the bride, at her home at Lake Norman on Saturday, May 11. The couple honeymooned in Carmel and San Francisco, CA and now reside in Greenville, SC. Luncheon honors Kathryn and Jeff Kathryn Morrow, bride-elect of Jeffery Bailey of Hendersonville, was honored with a garden luncheon May 5 at the home of Mrs. Patsy Schronce. Twenty-five guests attended. Martha Cash, Johanna Cole, Sharon Connor, Mildred Dixon, Edie Greenlee, Kendra Ledford and Patsy Schronce hosted the luncheon. Kathryn was presented a Tussie Mussie bouquet of garden flowers. : Special guests were Mrs. Avis Morrow, mother of the bride-elect; Mrs. Mary Jane A: Bailey of Brevard, mother of the groom; and grandmothers of the bride-elect, Mrs. Thomas Morrow and Mrs. Charles Owens. Kathryn and Jeff are to be married in Hendersonville on June 22. Engagement party honors Kathryn, Jeff An engagement party honoring Kathryn Morrow and Jeff Bailey was held May 4 from 5-8 p.m. at shelter #2 at Lake Crawford in the Kings Mountain State Park. Guests enjoyed a hamburger cookout and home made ice cream. Keith and Avis Morrow, parents of the bride-to-be, hosted the event. Special guests included Loyd and Mary Jane Bailey of Brevard, parents of the groom-to-be; Jeff's brother and his family, Rodney and Denice Bailey and Elizabeth and Matthew of Pisgah Forest; Kathryn's brother, Ensign Thomas Morrow of Pensacola, FL; aunts, uncles and cousins of the Owens, Dixon, Cooke, Morrow, Wells and Randle families, and other family and friends. One hundred and two guests attended. Picnic tables were covered with red and white checked table cloths. The centerpieces were hurricane globes, red candles and holly. The bride-to-be and groom-to-be were given monogrammed red aprons. There was a fire in the shelter fireplace to take the chill off of a damp and cool day. Pops in the Park June 15 in Dallas The Pops in the Park concert will be held June 15 at Gaston County Park in Dallas. The Gaston Choral Society will perform the prelude act at 7:30 p.m., followed by the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra at 8:15. iri Admission is free and, persons attending {limay take,a picnigohaskel hianset or law chairs. Magnolia club elects officers Magnolia Garden Club met at the Cup and Saucer for the annual luncheon meet- ing on May 28. The club presented Sandra Murphrey a begonia for serving as president. The nominating committee reported on the new slate of officers for 2002-03. They are president Edie Bridges, vice president Mabel McGill, secretary Glenda Colburn, and treasurer Susie Kiser. Edie Bridges presided over new business. Names for teams were drawn and Team 1 is captain Sandra Murphrey, Dorene Ballard, Geneva Caveny, Glenda Colburn, Susie Kiser, and Bess Phifer. Team II is captain Maxine Bennett, Sue Drye, Juanita Lutz, Mabel McGill and Esther Muench.
