Adams held in the Cleveland County
jail under $200,000 bond after arrest
A Kings Mountain man is in
Cleveland County Jail under a
$200,000 bond after being charged
in two burglaries that occurred
within hours of each other last
Wednesday.
Charged with the crimes was
James Andawn Adams, 22, of 181
Crown Court.
The two separate incidents
occurred at 3F Kingswood
Apartments at 200 Spruce St., and
218 Morris Street.
According to Captain Derek

Johnson, at 4 a.m. someone entered
3F Kingswood Apartments
through a window, stole two
pocketbooks and went out a rear
door.
Johnson said the resident, who
heard the door shut, caught him
outside going through her pocket-
book and counting her money.
They engaged in a brief wrestling
match and she got her pocketbook
and some of the money back, and
the suspect ran.
Johnson said the resident identi-

fied Adams as the burglar.
He was charged with one count
of felony first degree burglary in
that incident.
About two hours later, Johnson
said someone broke through a
window at a home at 218 Morris
Street and stole pocketbooks and
keys to vehicles, and went outside
and stole a vehicle.
When something happened to
that car, Johnson said he returned
to the same residence and stole a
second car.
Adams has been charged with
first degree burglary, larceny and
two counts of larceny of a vehicle
in that case.
Police are also investigating an
armed robbery that occurred
Thursday at the intersection of
Parker and Sims Streets.
According to a report filed by
Officer Larry Ware, Robert Alan
Crotts of 201 Harbor Springs Lane
said that he was having problems
with his car and stopped to check
the engine.
He reportedly was looking at the
engine when an unknown subject
approached him from the rear and
stuck an object that he believed to
be a gun in his back, and demand-
ed money. He said he took money
out of both front pockets and laid
it on the fender, and the suspect
reached into his rear pocket and
took his wallet
