A native of Cleveland
County, she was the daugh- :

Carroll. She was a home-
maker and a member of
Bethlehem Baptist Church.
She is survived by her

A native of Davidson
County, she was the daugh-
ter of the late Pinckney and
Martha Belle Motsinger
Whicker and wife of the late
Andy W. Nesbitt and the
late Guinn Whisnant.
She was retired as a
teacher at Shelby High
School. She was a member
of Sandy Run Baptist
Church and was active in
many of the church activi-
ties.
She is survived by her son,
Phil Nesbitt of Charlotte;
daughters, Wanda Nesbitt
Davidson of Swannanoa and
Patty Morales and husband
Dan of Cary; grandsons, Ben
and Patrick Davidson;
granddaughters, Ginny and
Elizabeth Whisnant; and

Mountain.

He was a native of.

an electrical engineer for
Patrick Yarns in Kings
Mountain. He was a mem-
ber of First Baptist Church
and was a Mason and mem-
ber of Fairview Masonic
Lodge. He served in the
United States Air Force.
He was preceded in death
by his sister, Elizabeth
Mullinax.
He is survived by his wife,
Kaye Lynn Robbs of Kings
Mountain; daughters,

KINGS MOUNTAIN - Zeb
O. Plonk, 94, a resident of
White Oak Manor, died
August 17, 2002 at White
Oak Manor.
He was a native of
Cleveland County and the
second of ten children of the
late Clarence Sloan and
Ellen Patterson Plonk. His
wife was the late Gale
Walraven Plonk.
He was retired as Vice-
President of Liberty Mutual
Insurance Company of
Boston, MA. He worked for
Liberty Mutual for 43 years.
He was a member of St.
Matthew's Lutheran Church
and was a former church
council member.
He was a graduate of
Kings Mountain High
School where he played
football, basketball and base-
ball and received the presti-
gious Bronze Star Award
from the American Legion
for academic and athletic
achievement. .
He was a graduate of NC
State and Harvard Business
School. While at NC State he
played football and baseball
and was co-captain of the
baseball team his senior
year. During his freshman
year he was on the undefeat-
ed football team. The team ~
beat the schools of Duke,
Carolina, Wake Forest and
Davidson. His sophomore
year and first year on the
varsity team the team won
the Southern Conference.
He was a NC State
Alumnus, and was a mem-
ber of the Kings Mountain
Sports Hall of Fame.
He is survived by his chil-
dren, Donald C. Plonk of
Merritt Island, FL, Glenn W.
Plonk of Severna Park, MD,
and Jane Plonk Sims of
Chattanooga, TN; brothers,
Dr. George Plonk and John
B. Plonk, both of Kings
Mountain; sisters, Margaret
Plonk Isley of Burlington
and Clara Plonk Politius of
Ann Arbor, MI; grandchil-
dren, Daniel Plonk, Donald
Plonk Jr., Kristin Plonk,
Wendy Plonk, Susan Plonk,

Margaret Wentworth died
August 13,,2002. 59
A native of Kings
Mountain, she was the
daughter of D.J. Kimbrell
and Addie Gantt and wife of
the late Melvin Wentworth.
She and her husband
moved to Fort Sam Houston
in San Antonio, TX in the
early 1940s where she began
a career as a waitress at the
Manor Tea Room. She later
was employed as assistant
manager of the IBM office.
After 30 years of service,
she retired and moved with
her husband to Tennessee,
then to Corpus Christi, TX.
Later in life she served as a
“Granny” hostess with
Grandy’s Restaurants.
She moved to California
ten years ago to live with
her daughter.
She is survived by her
daughter and son-in-law,
Mazie and Bernie Chauvin
of Carpinteria; granddaugh-
ters, DeLys Chauvin of
Goleta, Danae Chauvin-
Couture and grandson-in-
law Marc Couture of Tempe,
AZ; great-grandson, Mike
