County Manager Lane Alexander said the loss could cause him and county commissioners to discuss the budget again. “That's the dilemma cities and counties are faced with,” he said. Rep. Debbie Clary, R- Cleveland, said a house vote on the bill is expected either today, Friday or Saturday. While the sales tax is an issue during the state budg- et process, Kings Mountain Mayor Rick Murphrey said he’s still waiting for roughly $600,000 in utilities fran- chise tax from the state. The money was not covered in the budget, he said. “The state still needs to send the money,” he said. Murphrey said the city had covered about $167,000 the state had withheld from the city.
