Jim Belts-new video focuses on alzheimers By TODD HAGANS Special to The Herald Jim Belt’s latest project used some 50 actors and a production crew, over eight hours of unedited videotape _ and a borrowed Ford Mustang convertible to bring attention to one sim- ple question - ‘Who's Forgotten?” The question relates to one of Belt’s self-written songs that tells the story of a sen- ior citizen living in a nurs- ing home. “What I am trying to show in the video is the question, who's forgotten,” said Belt, founder of James Belt Ministries, which caters to bringing joy to the golden years of senior adults. “I jam trying to get people to understand that sometimes we are neglecting our family and that the senior citizens in these homes have forgot- ten.” The video simultaneously tells two stories, one of how an elderly woman is alone in a nursing home while her relatives enjoy their every- day lives. The other story tells of the effects of Alzheimer’s disease. Belt admits that the song stirs emotions. “It plays on emotion,” he said. “It plays on guilt. The guilt is to the side that we have forgotten. The sadness is the other side that mom or dad has forgotten.” Belt recently debuted the video for ‘Who's Forgotten’ during a special screening where 110 people watched the premiere. Calling the endeavor his “pride and joy,” Belt said the response has been overwhelming to both the song and video. The song has gained air- play on gospel radio sta- tions across the country, landing among the top 200 on the Singing News play charts and debuting at 43 on the Christian music charts in Europe.
