Jack and Frances Lail celebrated their
50th wedding anniversary Sunday, August
25 at Bethlehem Baptist Church Fellowship
Center in Kings Mountain.
The couple was married August 23, 1952.
Frances Lail is employed by the Kings
Mountain School System. Jack is retired
from Fiber Industries and enjoys farming.
Hosts for the occasion were the couple’s
three children, their spouses, grandchil-
dren, and great-grandchildren. Many long-
time friends, church friends, and family
were present

Pictures from the couple's 50 years
together were displayed.

their daughter, Jaime Elizabeth Sherrill, to
Sean Wolfe Markham, both of Los Angeles,
CA. He is the son of Wayne and Lois
Markham of Marathon, FL.
The bride-to-be is the g granddaughter of
Mrs. Florine Vaughan and the late Thomas
Ray Vaughan Sr. of Rocky Mount and the
late Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sherrill of Granite
Falls. She is a 1997 graduate of Kings
Mountain High School and attended The
University of North Carolina at Charlotte
where she majored in English and Drama.
She is currently working as an actress and
model in Los Angeles, CA.
The groom-to-be is the grandson of
Leonard and Frances Wolfe of
Morgantown, WV, and Mrs. Frances
Markham and the late Volney Markham of
Waterloo, IL. He is a 1996 graduate of South
Miami Senior High School and graduated
.in 2000 from The University of North
Carolina at Charlotte with a BS in
Communications and a minor in Political
Science. He is employed with Paris
Photography in Los Angeles, CA.
The wedding will be October 5 at The
Belk Chapel on Queens College in
Charlotte.

City have announced their engagement.
Lauren is the daughter of Julie and Rick
Fortner of Kings Mountain and Bobby and
Pam Causby of Cherryville. She is a 2001
graduate of Kings Mountain High School
and attends Carolina Academy of
Cosmetology in Gastonia.
Bryan is the son of Beverly Cobb of Forest
City and Gary Cobb of Greenville, SC. He is
a 1994 graduate of East Rutherford High
School. He attended Western Carolina
University and is employed by Duke
Power.
A February 8 wedding is planned at First
Baptist Church, Kings Mountain.
The bride-to-be is a 1997 graduate of
Kings Mountain High School and a 1999
graduate of Central Piedmont Community
College. She is employed as a Certified
Dental Assistant at Young and Associates in
Shelby.
The prospective bridegroom is a 1995
graduate of Crest High School and is
employed as a mold technician with Core
Materials Technologies in Gaffney, SC.
The wedding will be December 14, 2002.
Woman's Club

The Kings Mountain
Woman's Club will be sell-
ing night reflective address
signs through Christmas to
raise money to purchase a
thermal imagery camera for
the Kings Mountain fire
and police departments.
The signs make it easier
for emergency personnel to
locate homes, especially at
night.
