News Deadlines
The following deadlines apply for news items.
Deadline for B Section news is 12 noon Monday. This includes lifestyles news, people
stories, weddings, engagements, anniversaries, reunions, club news, church news, business
news, school news and community news. Items received past the deadline will run in other
parts of the paper if time and space permit. Otherwise, they will be held until the following
week.

the jar, I haven't caused any-
one's eyes to water or head
to throb.

paper for cheating and for
making various other
NCAA violations.
Tiny Gardner-Webb
College wanted to move up.
It became a university.
Then it started to compete
in the NCAA's top division.
Scandals and probation
violations seem to be typical
of schools that have as
many students as some
cities in this state.
Now that it has joined
Division I, Gardner-Webb
makes itself more like those
schools on ESPN and the
sports pages of many news-
papers.
It has more coverage,
more name recognition,
more student applications
and more events.
With that comes the flip
side of possible cover-ups,
scandals and NCAA investi-
gations.
That's all part of the big
time.
