CARRIE ALMOND KINGS MOUNTAIN - Carrie Jackson Allmond, 74, 526 Katherine Avenue, died October 20, 2002 at her home. A native of Cherokee County, SC, she was the daughter of the late Marion and Anna Childers Jackson. She was also preceded in death by brothers Frank Jackson, Floyd Jackson and Tommy Jackson, and sister Jeanette Frisbee. She attended First Assembly, Gastonia, and was retired from Danaher Corp., Gastonia. She is survived by her daughters, Pamela Reece and husband Jim of Belmont and Dianne Allmond of Kings Mountain; brothers, Stoney Jackson and George . Jackson of Kings Mountain; sister, Vangie J. Ramsey of Kings Mountain; grandchil- dren, Dale Greene and wife Tabitha of Kings Mountain at Resurrection Lutheran Church and Preston Reece of Belmont; and great-grand- children, Madison Greene and Cameron Greene. The funeral was conduct- ed by the Revs. Raymond Allmond and Lamar Creel at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Ollie Harris Memorial Chapel. Burial was in Mountain Rest Cemetery. Harris Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. CARL BARNETT KINGS MOUNTAIN - Carl Barnett, 65, 116 Gold Run Court, died October 21, 2002 at Gaston Memorial Hospital. A native of Cleveland county, he was the son of the late Neal and Jossie Bobbitt Barnett. He was also preced- ed in death by his sisters, Nella Mae Moore and Faye Sue Hull. He was a former employee of Bowman Transportation for 23 years and he was retired from the City of Gastonia. He was employed by the Kings Mountain Housing Authority. He served in the U.S. Air Force. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Gertie Pearson Barnett of Kings Mountain; son, Eric Barnett of W. Palm Beach, FL; daughters, Cathy Maney and husband Jimmy and Allison Barrett and hus- band Tim of Kings ; Mountain; sisters, Barbara Barnett and Mary Lou Barnett of Kings Mountain; and grandchildren, Arden Maney, Jordon Maney, Breanna Barrett and Haddon Barrett. The funeral was conduct- ed by the Revs. Eddie Gray and Alvin Newcomb at 11 { W Parents are asked to accompany A Christmas Eve tradition in Kings Mountain attended last year by some 10,000 people. 15,000 people expected for the 2002 service. To prepare for this year’s service, residents are asked to help collect milk jugs. Luminaires will be placed throughout Mountain Rest Cemetery and along King St. from the overhead bridge to the Gaston County line. At least 3,000 milk jugs are needed. Donations now accepted at collection points located across from Kings Mountain Auto Repair on King St. and at Harris-Teeter. Donated milk jugs should be rinsed out. Lids are not needed. Want to help? He was the youngest son of the late Marshall A. and Sallie Hullender Costner of Kings Mountain. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Harley Costner. He served in the U.S. Armed Services during World War II, including many months overseas. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ruth; two sons, Larry and Gary; daughter, Kristina; and five grandchil- dren, all of St. Joseph; sis- ters, Nell Falls and Dorothy Champion of Kings Mountain; and brothers, Archie Costner of Spartanburg, SC and Everett P. Costner of Rockingham. The funeral was held Friday, October 18 in St. Joseph. ; BILL THOMPSON SHELBY - William Boyd “Bill” Thompson, 68, 3524 Bridges Dairy Road, died October 19, 2002 at his home. A native of York County, SC, he was the son of the late Willie ‘Sam” and Bertie Barber Thompson. He was J. also predeceased by his brother, Sammy Thompson. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served in the Korean Conflict. He was a retired electrician. LOIS HAYES KINGS MOUNTAIN - Lois Sanders McDaniel Hayes, 72, 210 Cleveland Avenue, died October 19, 2002 at Gaston Memorial Hospital. A native of Cleveland County, she was the daugh- ter of the late Simon J. and Effie Bell Peterson Sanders. She was also preceded in death by sisters, Libby Melton, Beatrice Peterson and Hazel Bollinger, and brothers Boyce, Billy and Earl Sanders. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and was a retired nurse. She is survived by her daughters, Iva Jean Mullinax, Sharon Sue Moore and Deborah Allen of Kings Mountain; sons, Donnie . Edward McDaniel and Danny Eugene McDaniel of Kings Mountain; nine grandchildren and 13 great- grandchildren. The funeral was conduct- ed by the Rev. Gene Land and Bishops Ben Poole and W.L. Lawson at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Gordon Mortuary Chapel. Interment was in Clingman Memorial Gardens. A native of Cleveland County, she was the daugh- ter of the late Clarence “Grassy” Smith. She was a homemaker. She is survived by her husband, Gary W. He was an avid golfer and was a member of the Lakewood Lunch Bunch. He also played industrial league baseball. He was the owner of Paysour’s Supermarket in Ranlo. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp during World War II in the First Marine Division, as a food buyer in China. He is survived by his son, James H. “Jim” Paysour and wife Carolyn of Kings Mountain; daughter, Patricia P. Cline 'of Hickory; grand- children, Michael Patrick Cline of Charlotte, Eric Scott Cline of Charlotte, Jennifer Cline Hazzard and husband Scott of Greensboro, Frances P. Hauser and husband Jonathan of Raleigh, Allison Dale Paysour of Kings Mountain, and Iris C. Hubbard of Wilmington; one great-grandchild, Henry Grier Hazzard; and numer- ous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marie Phillips Bohlen; brother, Henry Glenn Bohlen; sisters, Ester Nordin and Ruth VandeRiet. He was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church, Shelby. He was a retired plumber and served in the United States Army during World War II. He is survived by his wife, Joan Ford Porter Bohlen of Kings Mountain; sons, Glenn Bohlen of Indianapolis, IN and Gary Bohlen and wife Mary of Spartanburg, SC; daughters, Kim Tate and husband Greg and Debbie Goforth and husband Paul of Kings Mountain; six grandchil- dren, John Bohlen and wife Diane of Sunrise, FL, Bryan Bohlen and wife Michelle of Atlanta, GA, William Bohlen of Spartanburg, SC, Anna Marie Goforth, Brooks Tate and Kristin Tate, all of Kings Mountain; and two great- grandchildren, Grace Bohlen and Will Bohlen. In Memory IDA MAE TIGNOR We lost Mae on October 3, 2002. She was a loving and giving person. She loved everybody. We want to thank the staff at KM Hospital, the nurses and the doctors, they were all just wonderful. We also want to thank all her friends for showing their support.
