The Kings Mountain Herald Page 5B Community Thanksgiving service Wednesday night at KM Baptist BY ABIGAIL WOLFORD Staff Writer A community ~ Thanksgiving worship serv- ice will be held at Kings Mountain Baptist Church at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, November 27. The music will start at 6:30 p.m. “It’s an opportunity for all people--even if they don't belong to a church--it’s an opportunity to give thanks to God for what he has done,” said Rev. Moses Neuman of World Care Ministries, one of the organ- izers of the service. Each year the service is hosted by a different church in the Kings Mountain Ministerial Association, said Rev. Jeff Hensley, who has been the pastor at Kings Mountain Baptist Church for four months. “It’s been several years since we've hosted the serv- ices. My congregation does- n’t remember the last time,” he said. The Kings Mountain Baptist Church will be a convenient location for most, though, because it is centrally located, he said. The service has taken place for many years now, said Neuman, although he has not always been involved. “I've been directly involved for about five years, but it’s been going on for years, even before I was a part of the Kings Mountain Association,” Neuman. The planners of the service will try to meet the needs of all of the different denomi- nations and groups repre- sented in the Association. Different kinds of music will be played, and various speakers will bring the mes- sage. Baptists, United Methodists, Lutherans, Wesleyans, and Presbyterians, among others, are represented in the Association. All of the denominations represented in the Association will par- ticipate in the service. “All churches are invited. We're trying to get all the churches in Kings Mountain to come,” said Neuman. “It’s an ecumenical event, so it naturally involves a lot of different denominations and churches,” said Hensley. According to Rev. John Houze, who is head of the Ministerial Association, the service is a time for church members around the area to see their diversity and yet see what they have in com- mon. said We’re Growing Again!
