Page 2B RR Community lenten services scheduled Boyce Memorial ARP Church will host the first of the 2003 Kings Mountain community lenten services on Wednesday, March 12 at 12 noon. The services are sponsored by the Kings Mountain Ministerial Association. The theme for this year’s servic- es is “Christ's Prayer for His Church.” Future services will be March 19 at Central United Methodist Church, March 26 at First Presbyterian Church, April 2 at Bynum Chapel A .M.E. Zion Church, and April 9 at East Gold Wesleyan Church. Speakers for the series will be the Revs. Lee Thomas, jeff Hensley, Clarence Wright, Mike Chambers and John Houze. The public is invited. An offering will be taken at each service for the Kings Mountain Crisis Ministry. Each 30-minute service will be followed by a light lunch. A $3 donation is suggested to cover the cost of the meal. Breakfast slated at El Bethel UMC The El Bethel United Methodist Church Youth Relay for Life team will sponsor a pancake breakfast Saturday, March 8 from 7-10 a.m. at the church. Little Theatre sets auditions Kings Mountain Little Theatre will hold auditions next week to select the cast for “Dearly Departed,” a comedy to be presented at the Joy Performance Center in May. Wendy Walega, director, invites interested persons to become part of the wacky Turpin family, a group of colorful eccentrics who prove living and dying in the south is seldom tidy and always hilarious. The cast requires four to seven men (olden teen and up) and six to eight women (teenagers and up). Audition dates are Monday, March 10, Tuesday March 11, and Thursday March 16 at 7 p.m. at the Joy Performance Center. Performance dates are 7:30 p-m. May 2, 9, 3 and 10, and 3 p.m. on May 4. Food distribution set at fairgrounds The Shelby Lions Club will distribute commodities at the Cleveland County Fairgrounds on Wednesday, March 12 at 8 a.m. a card in the mail from DSS. Kidney Foundation in need of vehicles The National Kidney Foundation of North Carolina is asking the public to donate old cars which can be sold to send kids with some form of kidney or uro- logical disease to a week- long camp.
