Beasley - Vice President/Retail Loan Manager; Beasley began his career in banking in 1977, working in Durham, Gastonia, Kings Mountain and Shelby. He was bank man- ager of First Carolina Federal’s East Dixon Boulevard Office before the acquisition by First National. Beasley currently manages a staff, of four in the Retail Loan Center in the main office location. In addition, he has over-site responsibili- ties for operations of the - East Dixon office. A Charlotte native, Beasley served four years in the U.S. Army Security Agency. He attended Cleveland Community College, Limestone College, and completed the Advance Commercial Lending School at East Carolina University. Beasley is a member of the Shelby Rotary Club and is a past director of the Shelby Boys and Girls Club and the Kings Mountain Chamber. A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late John Carroll Barber and Irene Hambright Barber. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Benson Bass and Elaine Bass; brothers, Roy Quentin Barber, David Homer Barber, George Kermit Barber, and Jasper Dennis Barber; and sister-in-law, Wallace Peeler Barber. He was a retired barber and was also retired from Neisler Textiles, Inc. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force with service during World War II, and was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Mary Hughes Barber of the home; sons, John Barber Jr. of Kings Mountain and Steve Barber and wife Cindy of Lincolnton; sister and husband, Eudora Anne Ratcliffe and Robert A. of Pinehurst; brother-in-law, Oscar Bass Jr. of Charlotte; sister-in-law, Judy Rathbone Barber of Charlotte; grandchildren, Audra Price, Michael, Kevin, Steele, Tara, Ashley and Taylor Barber; great-grandchildren, Brison Barber and Garrett Barber; and 11 nieces and nephews. A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Dewey “Boots” Atkins and the late Lila Elizabeth Allison Atkins Gladden. She was also pre- ceded in death by her step father, Earl Odell Gladden; husband Lalon Lee Franks; sisters Mary Alice Atkins and Frances Mae Atkins; and step-brother Gerald Gladden. She was owner operator of James Superette of Bessemer City and was a mem- ber of House of Worship, Bessemer City. She is survived by her sons, Ronnie Franks and wife Rita and Terry Franks and wife Kimberly, all of Kings Mountain; sister, Betty Lou Howell of Kings Mountain; step- sister, Betty Gladden Roper of Kings Mountain; and two grandchildren, Melissa Ashlyn Franks and William Lalon Franks. A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Boyce Holland and Era Mode. He was also predeceased by his brothers Glenn and Hal Holland. He was an employee of CSX Railroad for 35 years and retired as a foreman in the engineering department. He was a member of Boiling Springs Baptist Church where he was a member of the T. Max Linnens Sunday School Class. She was a homemaker for many years and later worked with Bill and Joyce Cashion at Falls Superette.
