The Kings Mountain Herald HERSHELL FARRIS KINGS MOUNTAIN - Hershell Farris, 58, 100 North Dilling Street, died. July 2, 2003 at Gaston Memorial Hospital. A native of Ironton, OH, he was the son of the late Hershell Farris and the late Marjorie Webb Johnson, Th and hus- so band of the late Connie Jean Blagg Farris. He was employed by the United States Postal Service in Gastonia, and was a vet- eran of the U.S. Air Force. He is survived by his sons, Michael Farris of Kings Mountain and Mark Farris of Gastonia; daughter, Angela Farris Mashburn and husband Ronnie of Gastonia; brothers, Clifford Farris of Ironton, OH, Steve R. Farris of Flatwoods, KY, and David Farris of Lima, OH; sisters, Wanda Cochran of Kings Mountain and Patricia Baker of Flatwoods, KY; grandchil- dren, Connie Mashburn and Ronald Hershell Mashburn; and a number of nieces and nephews. A native of Gaston County, he was the son of the late Archie and Pearlie Ann Hullender Lutz. He was also preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. WOODROW WALL SHELBY - Rev Woodrow W. “Woody” Wall, 85, died July 5, 2003 at Hospice of Cleveland County. A native of Alexandria, LA, he was the son of the late Dr. Zeno and Ada Ramsey Wall. He was also preceded in death by his | | first wife, Mayme Ingram Wall; daugh- ter, Suzanne Ingram Wall; brothers, Zeno Wall Jr. and Yates Wall; and sister, Abbie Wall Harris of Kings Mountain. He graduated from Shelby High in 1935 and received an Associate of Arts from Mars Hill, a Bachelor of Arts from Wake Forest, a Bachelor of Music from Westminster Choir College, and a Master of Music from North Texas State University, all with choral music emphasis. He was a professor of vocal studies and the a cappela choir director at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and at Howard Payne College, both in Texas. He was Minister of Music at churches in Tennessee, Florida, Georgia, Texas and South Carolina. He served as pastor of Greenville Baptist Church in Greenville, GA and Sandy Plains Baptist in Shelby. He served as interim pastor at several Cleveland County churches, and had served as Associate Chaplain of Cleveland Regional Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Marie Magill Wall; daughter, Cindy Wall Donahue and husband Mike of Lexington, KY; sons W. Dixon Wall and wife Jean of Cramerton, Charles Zeno Wall and wife Lisa of Charlotte; sister, Ada Fanning and husband Walter of Davidson; grand- children, Bill Wall, Lynn up the contest. A native of Gaston County, he was the son of the late Jesse Irvin and Hulda Mae Sellers Eaker. He was also preceded in death by two sisters and a brother. He was retired from Monsanto Corp., Blacksburg, SC. He was a member of the American Legion Otis D. Greene Post 155, a member of the Last Man's Club, Gastonia, and served in the United States Army 22nd Armored Division “Hell on Wheels.” During World War II, he served in the European Theatre and the Battle of the Bulge where he received the Purple Heart and Silver Star.
