Duckpin bowling
season under way
Duckpin bowling league action got under way this week
at Dilling Heating in Kings Mountain.
- On Thursday night, Ed Philbeck’s team won three of four
games from Tommy Barrett's crew and Greg Evans’ and
Allen Myers’ teams split.
Evans took up right where he left off last season, bowling
a 151 game and 432 set as his team won the second of three
games, plus total pins. Joey Whitaker led Myers with a 118
line and 307 set.
Bonnie Warren bowled a 123 line and 351 set and Ed
Philbeck added a 118-316 to lead Philbeck over Tommy
Barrett. Barrett led his team with a 144 line and 384 set.
In Tuesday night action, Zeke Rybczyk defeated Mark
Midgette 6-2 and the Quack Attack whipped the Duck
Douters 6-2.
Greg Evans bowled a 147 line and 410 set, and Colleen
Evans added a 118-311 to lead the Quack Attack. Ed
Philbeck had a 127-343 and Russ Armstrong added a 130-
334 for the Duck Douters.
Zeke Rybczyk bowled a 123 line and 317 set to lead his
team over Mark Midgette. Joey Whitaker had a 118 line and
Midgette added a 137 set for the losers.

Joy Sloan, daughter of Rev. John W. Sloan Jr. and Martha
Sloan of Kings Mountain, is student teaching at Green
Valley Elementary School in Watauga County.
Sloan is in the student teaching program at Appalachian
State University’s Reich College of Education. She will
spend approximately 15 weeks teaching kindergarten.
Sloan is a graduate of Kings Mountain High School.
