Lafayette Street * Shelby 482-8653 — Helen Lowery celebrated her 80th birthday Sunday, September 26 at the H. eT ia i Mon. - Sat. 9-5:30 The event was hosted by her children, Gary and Ann Lowery of Kings Mountain, Johnny and Janie Lowery of Easley, SC, Don and Brenda Dorris of St. Augustine, FL and Larry and Sandra Dickson of Swannanoa. Local gospel singer Jim Belt provided the entertain- ment. Mrs. Lowery served on the Advisory Board at the old Kings Mountain Depot for 12 years before moving to Lake Norman. She currently lives at 909 Stoneymead Drive, Kings Mountain. George Raines honored on his 90th birthday George Raines celebrated his 90th birthday May 23 with family and friends. His four children - Bobby Raines, Sue Strickland, Martha Myers and Edward “Butch” Raines - hosted a cook-out in his honor. Family and friends joined in to sing Happy Birthday. His cake was decorated with yellow roses and was cut and served after the cook- out.
