RUSTY MARION EARLE (Jaime Shareen Porter) Earle-Porter | Jaime Shareen Porter of Shelby and Rusty Marion Earle of Gastonia exchanged wedding vows September 6, 2003 in Murrells Inlet, SC. Saundra Stevens Poirel, associate pastor, officiated. Starlyn H ughes, vocalist, presented wedding music. i The bride is the daughter of Dennis and Wanda Porter of Shelby, and granddaughter of Bill and Cornelia Suggs of Kings Mountain and the late Eugene Porter of Shelby. She is a 1994 graduate of Crest High School and a 1998 graduate of Contemporary Hairstyling Academy. She is co-owner © and stylist at LeGallery Salon. The groom is the son of Jerry and Joyce Earle of Cherryville, and grandson of Bea Callahan and the late Wroaten Callahan of Bessemer City and the late Steve and Rossie Earle of Gastonia. He served in the Coast Guard | © from 1990-1994 and received an honorable discharge. He is - employed with CSI Charlotte as network engineer. The bride's father gave her in marriage. Minutes that were compiled in 1982: by Mrs. George W. Moss were read. The minutes gave information on the organization of Town and Country Garden Club on December 11, 1952 at the home of Mrs. J.G. Darracott with Mrs. W.M. Moorhead acting as tempo- rary president. Committees were appointed to form a constitution with by-laws and to nominate officers. The first officers to be elected were Mrs. Jacob Mauney, president; Mrs. W.T. Weir, vice-presi- dent; Mrs. Robert Miller, secretary; and Mrs. Charles Dilling, treasurer Charter members were Mrs. |.H. Arthur, Mrs. W.E. Blakeley, Mrs. W.D. Blanton, Mrs. H.L Campbell, Mrs. J.G. Darracott, Mrs. Fred E. Finger Sr., Mrs. Manley Fuller, Mrs. E.-W. Griffin Sr., Miss Helen Hay, Mrs. N.F. McGill Sr., Mrs. Jacob Mauney, Mrs. Robert Miller, Mrs. W.M. Moorhead, Mrs. O.W. Myers, Mrs. Baxter Payseur, Mrs. Charles Thomasson, Mrs. Bruce Thorburn, Mrs. S.S. Weir Jr., and Mrs. W.T. Weir. Mrs. Charles G. Dilling joined the club in February, 1953, bringing the membership to 20. In October, 1953, Mrs. T. Grady Patterson became a member when Mrs. Manley Fuller moved away. The name of the club was suggested by Mrs. O.W. Myers As the name of charter members were read, club president Connie Bell lit a candle for each member. The can- dles adorned an anniversary cake made especially for the 51st anniver- sary of the club. After the lighting of - candles, the members read the Club Collect in honor of the members that formed the club. Hostess was Susan Gibson. She served refreshments of hot dogs and all the trimmings, a tradition at the December meeting. Members began working on tray favors for Kings Mountain IJospital and White Oak Manor. The favors are made of live greenery from club mem- bers’ yards. The are shaped in contain- ers and adorned with red ribbons, cut Christmas cards and candy canes. Seventy-five decorations were made by the members. Dot Dixon, Susan Gibson and Lou Ballew delivered the favors to the facilities. This is a tradition devel- oped through the years to help enlight- en hospital patients at Christmas. GARY STEWART / HERALD The 35-voice Kings Mountain Senior Center Choir sang numerous Christmas hymns at Friday’s annual senior Christmas party at the H. Lawrence Patrick Senior Life and Conference Center. A packed house attended the event, which included entertainment, readings, door prizes and refreshments. church news and community news. There is a $20 fee for wedding, anniversary and engage- ments. Wedding forms are also available at the reception- ist’s desk. Only the information requested on the form will be published. Persons requesting additional information in wedding write-ups must pay regular advertising rates. Ranger on Ridge at Crowders Mtn. The Ranger on the Ridge program will be held Sunday, Dec. 28 at 1 p.m. at Crowders Mountain State Park. Participants will meet with a ranger at the over- look at the top of the Backside Trail. The ranger will answer questions about the park and participants will observe the surround- ing countryside through a spotting scope. Waters has gradu- ated from basic combat mili- tary training at Fort Sill, Lawton, OK. Waters is the son of Debbie Waters of Grover. He is a 2003 graduate of South Rowan High School in China Grove.
