Page 6B The Kings Mountain Herald Ie Ty hE Ml RR “ April 1, 2004 CE CHURCH BRIEFS Easter musical at First Baptist The Sanctuary Choir of Kings Mountain's First Baptist Church will combine efforts with an orchestra of professional musicians to present the Easter musical “Like a Lamb” Sunday, April 4 at 7 p.m. The public is invited. Soloists will be Shane and Alesa Doty, who have been in demand for weddings and other occasions at First Baptist for 16 years. The orchestra will be made up of local band directors and other professional musicians in the area. Morris Jordan, First Baptist Minister of Music, will be the director. “Like a Lamb” is a musi- cal which is contemporary in nature and will involve the congregation in a mean- ingful praise and worship experience. When we derided to put a newborn bathing sink in each of o 52 maternity suites, it was the | nursing team who pointed out that we'd need warming lights above it. Instead of simply ordering regular whirlpool tubs for our bathrooms, the nursing team had them custom made to meet the unique needs of a laboring mother. These custom-made bathing sinks are specially contoured to cradle an infant's body. The 40-voice choir will also be involved in the CrossWalk presentation in downtown Kings Mountain April 1-3. Indoor drama set at Anthony Grove Anthony Grove Baptist Church of Crouse will pres- ent “God's Passion for You,” and Easter drama, over the next two weekends. The show opens Saturday, April 2 at 7 p.m. and will also be presented at the same time on April 3, 4, 9 and 10. This is Anthony Grove’ s _ fifth annual Easter drama and is being billed as the largest indoor drama in the area. Admission is free but persons attending should call 435-6001 for tickets so they will be assured a seat. Over 100 actors will be involved in the play and . Ministers to meet April 7 at YMCA The Kings Mountain Ministerial Association will meet at 11:45 a.m. Wednesday, April 7 at the Kings Mountain YMCA on Cleveland Avenue. The DSS will present a program on “Helping Patients Find Nursing Home Care.” Egg hunt slated at Temple Baptist An Easter egg hunt will be held Saturday from 12- 1:30 p.m. at Temple Baptist Church, 612 N. Cansler Street, Kings Mountain. Children ages 2-10 are invited. Take only a basket or bag to put eggs in. Eggs will be provided. Hot dogs will be served. A Maundy Thursday com- munion service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 8 A Tenebrae service will be held Friday, April 9 at 7 p.m. An Easter egg hunt for children will be Saturday, April 10 at 2 p.m. An Easter sunrise service will be held at 6:45 a.m. Sunday, April 11, followed by a breakfast. The Easter cantata “Lamb of God” will be presented by the choir during the 11 a.m. worship service. The public is invited to all of the services. Former resident honored in Nevada Former Kings Mountain resident Robert W. Bullock was one of eight State of Nevada employees who were recently honored by Governor Kenny C. Guinn with State Merit Awards for coming up with ideas to help save the state money. Bullock, an employee of the Department of Corrections, suggested a for- mat change for shift workers in the Department of Corrections. Bullock is a past president of Bullock Industries, Inc., Kings Mountain.
