SALISBURY - Bob Lewis
Huffstetler died March 29,
2004 at his residence.
He was born on
September 28, 1930 in Kings
Mountain. He attended
Kings
Mountain
High
School
where he
met his
wife of 53
years,
Pauline
“Polly”
Cody.
A veteran of the U.S.
Army, he was especially
proud of his time with the
Fort McPherson baseball
team. After his pro baseball
career ended he joined the
Atlas Supply Co. in
Charlotte where he worked
for 23 years. He continued
his love of sports with a suc-
cessful career officiating
high school and college foot-
ball and basketball. He
retired in 1995 from Pope
Plumbing Co., Salisbury,
spending his later years
playing golf with the GARS
Association in Salisbury.
He was a member of
Franklin Presbyterian
Church. Known to his
friends as “Huff,” Bob was
full of life and had many
close personal friends. He
loved Christmas and
Christmas music, and
always made the holidays
fun. Besides Christmas,
spring was his favorite time
of the year, anticipating the
explosion of beautiful azal-
eas that filled his yard. Bob
will be remembered for his
great sense of humor and his
warm heart. He will be
greatly missed. :
He was preceded in death
by his wife, Polly; five broth-
ers, Kermit, Howard, Luico,
Jake and Buck; and his sister
Corrie.
He is survived by his son,
Monte Huffstetler and wife
Kim of Cornelius; and sisters
Margaret Horn and Juanita
Hill, both of Kings
Mountain:
The funeral will’ be con-
ducted at 11 a.m. Thursday
at Franklin Presbyterian
Church by Dr. Larry E.
Summey. Interment will fol-
low at the church cemetery.

March 23, 2004 at Cleveland
Regional Medical Center.
A native of Lincoln
County, she was the daugh-
ter of the late Sam A. and
Effie Beer Caldwell and
widow of the late James
Lawrence Blanton. She was
also predeceased by brothers
and sisters.
She was a resident of
Sommerset Court,
Cherryville. She was a
retired textile employee and
a member of Macedonia
Baptist Church, Kings
Mountain.
She is survived by her son,
Don Blanton and wife Jo
Anne of Asheboro City;
daughter Debbie B. Yoder
and husband Dennis of
Bessemer City; grandchil-
dren Andy Blanton, Kyle
Yoder and Tyler Yoder; and
great grandchild Drew
Blanton.
The funeral was conduct-
ed by the Rev. David Turner
at 2 p.m. Friday, March 26 at
Macedonia Baptist Church.
Interment was in Mountain
Rest Cemetery.

A native
of Gaston
County, he
was the son
of the late
Rev. Clyde
R. Goodson
and the late Louise Phillips
Goodson. He was also pre-
deceased by his grandson,
Michael Goddard.
He was an employee of
Wix Corporation, Gastonia
for 39 years. He was a well-
known gospel singer, having
sung with various quartets
throughout the southeast.
He wrote several songs him-
self, and he recorded albums
during that time. He enjoyed
singing and continued
singing with his wife Betty.
He graduated from
Wesleyan College in Central,
SC. He received a doctor of
philosophy in Theocentric
Counseling from the North
Carolina College of
Behavioral Science. He
received an honorary doc-
torate of music from
Emmanuel Baptist
University in Connelly
Springs. He was a member
