KMH Auxiliary gives scholarships The Kings Mountain Hospital Auxiliary has awarded two $2,000 scholar- ships to Kings Mountain High School graduates who are enrolling in nursing pro- grams. Carleia Sherer Owens and Ashley Elizabeth McDaniel are this year’s recipients. Owens is the daughter of Sylvia Watkins Byers. McDaniel’s parents are Timothy S. and Laura W. McDaniel. Owens will attend the University of North Carolina Charlotte. While in high school, she was active in band, SAVE, SADD, NV- THS and was a heath education career stu- dent. She is active in her church. Owens’ grand- mother was also a nurse. Tentative plans call for the school operating a two day per week program for 2- year-olds, a three day per week program for three- year-olds and a five day per week program for four-year- olds. Neisler graduated magna cum laude. Miller on dean’s list at Meredith Rebekah Jane Miller of Kings Mountain was named to the Dean’s List for the spring semester at Meredith College in Raleigh. For a student to be named to the Dean’s List, she must - have a semester grade point average of at least 3.5 out of a possible 4.0 and must have completed a minimum of 12 semester hours and passed all courses.
