Savannah Williams adds to her “family” BY ANDIE L. BRYMER Staff Writer Savannah Williams says the teens who helped rebuild her front porch last week are “like family.” “They're just wonderful,” she said. “You can talk with them, pray with them. They're a blessing from God.” The group are part of Carolina Cross Connection. Youth from United Methodist, Presbyterian, Baptist, United Church of Christ and other congregations volunteer for week-long stints doing free maintenance and home repair for lower income individu- als. ~ As the group gathered around Williams, Deirdre Yannello described the volunteer project as “fun.” Annie Carroll held Williams dog Koda, teasing that she would take the dog home with her. For Matt Gantt, the volunteer job is more than a chance to help others. “Everything I've learned about construc- tion I've learned from Carolina Cross Connection,” he said. “Casper” Chaise ecliner In Leather-Finesse® “Aspen” Recliner In Leather-Finesse® Choose Leather! ft.
