KM man found shot to death The Cleveland County Sheriff's Office is investigat- ing the homicide of John Lee Sherman Jr. Sherman, 19, of 113 Dixon School Road, was found lying in the roadway on Dixon Dairy Road at approximately 7:55 a.m. Saturday. The victim's body was left in the roadway sometime after midnight, according to a press release from the Sheriff's office. ' Two rabies cases reported in county Two more cases of rabies have been reported in Cleveland County. A fox found in Polkville and a skunk captured in Shelby are the 90th and 91st cases in the county since 1998, and the 10th and 11th this year, according to Cleveland County Health Department director Denese R. Stallings. Cleveland County Animal Control officers picked up the fox at 108 Jan Drive, Polkville, after it attempted to attack a dog June 18. During the next six months, people living near sure all dogs and cats have current rabies vaccination. Animals which are not vaccinated and come into contact with a rabid animal must be euthanized, accord- ing to Stallings. Republicans plan candidate reception Cleveland County Republicans will host a “Meet and Greet” reception for candidates July 12 from 5:30-7 p.m. at Deer Brook Golf Club in Shelby The reception is free and the public is invited. Wilson is a three-year employee at the McDonald's restaurant located at 725 south York Road. He was selected from hundreds of nominees from restaurants in the Carolinas. Ambassadors are selected based on their outstanding qualities and dedication to customers and co-workers. They are recognized through awards, cash bonuses, advertising and promotional materials at their restaurant. “John is an excellent crew coach and goes beyond our expectations,” said Bill Sherwood, who operates the restaurant where Wilson works. “We're delighted John is being honored with this well-deserved award.” Bible School set at Second Baptist Vacation Bible School will be held July 12-16 from 6- 8:30 p.m. at Second Baptist Church, 120 Linwood Road, Kings Mountain.
