walls. A fan of westerns, she
often watches her favorites
on the television facing her
recliner; Mrs. Cline’s daugh-
ter Peggy Wells jokes that
her grandson doesn’t know
who Charlie Brown is but
can name off stars of the old
cowboy flicks thanks to her
mom.
Until January Mrs. Cline
was in excellent health,
walking several times
around her block each day
and doing her own house-
work. Now daughter Peggy
lives with her and does the
chores. She is recovering
from congestive heart failure
and pneumonia. Doctors
recently told her she did not
have to use oxygen 24 hours
a day. Being free of the teth-
er means she can dine on
catfish at her favorite restau-
rant, The Pier.
Mrs. Cline’s physical ther-
apist released her earlier this
week, telling her she wished
all patients had her vigor. |
Tuesday she walked for the
first time in months without
the assistance of a walker.
Mrs. Cline has raised six
children. She has 21 grand-
children, 49 great-grandchil-
dren and eight great-great-
grandchildren with another

Our mother passed away at her home
Thursday morning, August 12, 2004 after
several years of declining health. She fought
a courageous battle with heart disease, and
inspired us all with her
determination to live and
not give up.
She was blessed with a
caring heart who always
showed kindness and
happiness to everyone
she came to know. We
know you are at peace
now, mom, and in pain
no longer. God has a spe-
cial place for moms like
you. We'll love you
always, thanks for always being our MOM.
She was born in Cleveland Co., NC and
daughter of the late John Robert and Cora
Mitchem Morrison and wife of the late
Foley P. Cobb Jr. She was also preceded in
death by brothers Robert Morrison and
Luther Morrison, and sisters Doris Camp
and Helen Willis.
She was retired from Mauney Hosiery,
Kings Mountain. She was a member of
Resurrection Lutheran Church, Kings
Mountain.
She is survived by her sons Mickey D.
Moss and wife Linda of Kings Mountain,
Roger Wayne “Pete” Cobb of Kings
Mountain, and Johnny Robert Cobb of
Kings Mountain; sister Martha Mullinax of
Kings Mountain; four grandchildren,
Chasity Buchanan, Jeremy Wayne Cobb,
Kati Cobb and Melissa Cobb; and four
great-grandchildren, Chelse Hale, Andrew
Hale, Zachary Cobb and Katlin Cobb.
A graveside service was conducted by the
Rev. Tommy Buchanan at 2 p.m. Sunday,
August 15, 2004 at Mountain Rest Cemetery,
Kings Mountain.
Harris Funeral Home was in charge of

SARAH McDANIEL
KINGS'MOUNTAIN - Sarah Mae
Huffstetler McDaniel, 79, 1526 Phifer Road,
died August 13, 2004 at White Oak Manor.
A native of Cleveland County, she was the
daughter of the late Robert Theodore and
Mylie Dixon Huffstetler and wife of the late
Clyde D. McDaniel. She was also preceded
in death by her son Mike McDaniel, daugh-
ter Judy Cobb, and brother Bobby
Huffstetler.
She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist
Church, a retired textile employee and a
homemaker.
She is survived by her daughters, Lynn
Echols and husband Tim and Cathy Moore
and husband Eric, all of Kings Mountain;
son-in-law Mitchell Cobb of Kings
Mountain; daughter-in-law Melanie
McDaniel of Shelby; brothers David
+ Huffstetler of Kings Mountain, Sam
Hulffstetler of Huntsville, AL and Jerry
Hulffstetler of Taladega, AL; sisters Annie
Laura Robinson of Gastonia, Frances Lail of
Kings Mountain, Gloria Gordon of Maiden,
Doris Hardin of Spartanburg, SC, Theo
Hawkins of Dolphin Island, AL, Gail Moss
of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Marjorie Kircus of
Belmont; grandchildren Lee Echols, Lane
Echols, Tammy Godwin, Jody Ghorley,
Stacy Barber, Samantha Farmer; Cole Moore,
Erica Moore and Christian Strange; and 10
great-grandchildren.
The funeral was conducted by the Rev.
David Blanton at 4 p.m. Sunday at
Bethlehem Baptist Church. Burial was in the
church cemetery.

BOYD SANDERS
KINGS MOUNTAIN - Boyd Franklin
Sanders, 87, 1414 Long Creek Road, died
August 15, 2004 at White Oak Manor in
Shelby
A native of Cleveland County, he was the
son of the late Rufus James and Flossie
Ledford Sanders Sr. He was also preceded
in death by his brothers, Rev. James Sanders,
Fred Sanders and Arshal “Bill” Sanders, and
sister Cloe Bowen.
He was a retired carpenter and a member
of Patterson Grove Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Agnes
Hamrick Sanders of Kings Mountain;
daughters Ann S. Willis and husband Sonny
of Gastonia and Doris S. Robbs and hus-
band Johnny of Shelby; brother Dathia
Sanders of Kings Mountain; sister Ruby S.
Conner of Kings Mountain; sister-in-law
Ruth Sanders of Kings Mountain; grandchil-
dren Leanne Sanders and husband Eric of
Kings Mountain, Jennifer Hunter and hus-
band Matthew of Kings Mountain, John
Willis and wife Lindsay of Bethlehem, GA,
and David Willis of Boone; and great-grand-
children Scott Sanders, Logan Sanders,
Gracie Hunter and Heath Hunter.
The funeral was conducted by the Revs.
Tim Hendricks and Nathan Sanders at 11
a.m. Wednesday at Ollie Harris Memorial
Chapel. Burial was in Mountain Rest
Cemetery.

TERRY LEDFORD
GASTONIA - L.T. “Terry” Ledford, 66,
died August 14, 2004 at Gaston Memorial
Hospital.
A native of Gastonia, he was the son of
the late Lawrence W. and Jeanette Wallace
Ledford. He was an Air Force veteran and
was retired owner and operator of Copy-
Print Instant Printing Company, which he
operated for over 30 years.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years,
Bobbie Glover Ledford; daughters and son-
in-law , Penny L. and Art Cunningham of
Charlotte and Julie L. Young of Gastonia;
brother Harold Lee Ledford of Kings
Mountain; aunt Louise Hardin of
Spartanburg, SC; and grandchildren Rob
and Jenny Cunningham of Charlotte.
The funeral will be private. Memorials
may be made to the National Kidney
Foundation of NC, 5970 Fairview Rd., Three
Parkview Plaza, Suite 408, Charlotte, NC

BLACKSBURG, SC - Mary Love Bettis
Page, 85, 2107 Shelby Highway, died August
14, 2004 at White Oak Manor in Kings
Mountain.
A native of Cherokee County, she was the
daughter of the late A.A. and Zelia Hopper
Bettis Sr. and was also preceded in death by
her brothers, Howard Bettis, A.A. “Jack”
Bettis Jr., Randolph “Ralph” Bettis, Billy G.
Bettis, Gene Bettis and Donald Bettis.
She was a public school teacher, having
taught for 48 years in Lattimore, Marion,
Gastonia, Grover and Kings Mountain. She
retired from Kings Mountain District
Schools.
She was a member of New Hope Baptist
Church, Earl, where she taught Sunday
School. She also taught at First Presbyterian
Church, Kings Mountain.
She is survived by her husband of 58
years, James H. Page of the home; sister
Leola Bettis Bowman of Granite Falls, broth-
er Allen Bettis of Browns Summit, NC,
nieces and nephews, and seven sisters-in-
law.
The funeral was conducted by the Revs.
David Gordon and Richard Little at 2:30
p-m. Monday at New Hope Baptist Church.
Burial was in Mountain Rest Cemetery.
