BRYMER Staff Writer El Bethel United Methodist Church has bro- ken ground on a new wing. The church will expand its kitchen and build a parlor and pastor's study. The fel- lowship hall will also get new floor covering and win- dows and two handicap accessible bathrooms. The church will build a colum- barium in the cemetery with 24 niches to hold cremains. One reason the church is expanding its kitchen is to continue a decades old tradi- tion of serving a bi-monthly _ Saturday breakfast. The country style menu priced at $4 attracts people from across the area. “The community supports us real well,” said Lois Blanton. The construction may mean the church has to call off its October breakfast. El Bethel was established in 1812. Missionaries to speak at Boyce Memorial Rev. Gary Letchworth and Dr. Nickolay Levtov will speak at the 10 a.m. morning worship Sunday, Sept. 26 at Boyce Memorial Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church in Kings Mountain. Following the worship hour there will be a covered dish fellowship meal i Jn the fel- lowship hall which y will pro- vide an opportunity to infor- mally meet the missionaries. The public is invited. Rev. Letchworth is cur- rently serving as the vice president of Evangelism Explosion International for Asia. The organization is known for providing an effective witness in every country on the globe. Dr. Revtov, with four earned PhD degrees includ- ing two in Metallurgy and two in Education, was for- merly Vice President of the University of Mariupol, Ukraine, and Head of the Metallurgy Department. He was for 25 years a card-car- rying member of the Communist Party. He designed the metal that was used in the head of the nuclear missiles of the for- mer Soviet Union. He was converted to Christ in May, 1993. Within three months of his conver- sion, he took the EE course in how to share his faith. He became burdened for his own countrymen to know the Savior. China offered him one million dollars to teach Chinese scientists what he knows about met- als, but he turned it down, and resigned his position at the University so-that he could go to work with Evangelism Explosion, International, on a meager salary. Dr. Revtov has planted the Evangelism Explosion min- istry in all 12 Republics of the former Soviet Union. Either directly or indirectly, as a result of his ministry over the past 10 years, over 100,000 Eurasians have come to know Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. ° Dr. Revtov has 24 Regional Directors across the former Soviet Union working under his leadership. Last year, 2,307 church leaders were trained in 105 EE clinics, and over 4,000 laymen and lay women were trained in local church ministries in how to share their faith. This year, 120 EE clinics are scheduled to train another 2,500 pas- tors and church leaders. Brewton in concert at Solid Rock Baptist The Rev.
