B® SENIOR BRIEFS The Kings Mountain Herald Page 9B ~The following activities have been scheduled by the Patrick Senior Center, 909 East King Street, Kings Mountain. “All senior citizens living in the former Kings Mountain Schools district are encouraged to participate. For more information call the center at 734-0447. HB Applications for prescription drug benefits for senior citizens will be taken Monday, Nov. 8 from 8:30-10:30 a.m. at the center. Those who are unable to attend may apply at the center offices by calling 734-0447 to make an appoint- ment. Seniors are urged to get their application in by December 25. To participate, persons must be at least 65 years old, be a resident of North Carolina, have an income of $23,275 or less if single, divorced or widowed or $31,225 if married, and have no other prescription drug insurance including Medicaid. Applicants must know their estimated income for 2004. HM Seniors will attend the Southern Christmas Show in Charlotte on Tuesday, Nov. 16. They will leave the center at 9 a.m., shop until 12:30 and then travel to The Olive Garden for lunch and McDonald's for ice cream. They will return to the center around 4 p.m. Cost of the ticket for the show and transportation is $8.50. Lunch, ice cream and purchases are extra. BM Cleveland Home Health will sponsor a home safety program December 3 at 11 a.m. Lisa Whisnant, RN, will provide a safety “walk-through” of each room of the home, discussing potential safety problems. Revonda Granger, HME Manager, will explain the safe use of medical equip- ment in the home. BM Commodities will be distributed Tuesday, Dec. 7 at 1 p.m. Pre-register by calling the center on Monday, Nov. 22; Tuesday, Nov. 23 and Wednesday, Nov. 24 between 9-11 a.m. Only those who pre-register will be able to pick up commodities at the Senior Center. Others must go to the Shelby Fairground on Wednesday, Dec. 8. HM The annual Chrisfmas party will be held Friday, Dec. 17 from 2-4 p.m. the King’s Chorus from First Baptist Church will present entertainment, and refreshments will be served. HM Persons ages 60 and over are encouraged to join the “One Stroke” folk art painting class. BM The Senior Center Chorus will be performing at vari- ous functions in November and December. On Sunday Nov. 14 at 3 p.m. they will participate in a singing program at Bynum Chapel Church. They will perform “Christmas Favorites” at the Senior Center on Monday, Dec. 6 at 7 p.m. On Monday, Dec. 13 they will entertain participants at the Life Enrichment Center. They will perform for the senior group at Mary’s Catholic Church on December 15 at 2 p.m. They will perform at the Shelby Senior Center's New Year party at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12 at the Neal Senior Center. Fridays - Mens’ coffee time 10 a.m., sit for fitness 10:30- 11:30 fit for a king exercise class 2 p.m. *Senior shuttle runs Monday-Friday from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. “Nutrition is Monday-Friday with a program at 11 a.m. and meal at 11:30. 1,400 flu shots to be given | today in Shelby Cleveland County Health Department has purchased 1,400 doses of influenza vaccine which will be administered beginning at 8 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 4 at the Cleveland County Health Department. The cost is $20 per dose. North Carolina Medicaid or Medicare can be billed. Participants should take correct change or their NC Medicaid or Medicare card.
