Band members helped out with Richie Valens’ “La Bamba,” “Sketches of Spain” and “Malaguena.” Students danced the merengue and sang in Spanish “El Cielito Lindo” and “Malaguena Salerosa.” Four skits, “Por Supuesto,” “En el Baile,” “En Casa Del Dentista” and “En Clase,” were presented in both Spanish and English. The poem “Sensemaya” was recited in Spanish. During the intermission students sold foods and handicrafts representative of Spanish speaking countries. According to teacher Susan Canipe, the students in her two Spanish III class- es are there because of a genuine interest in the lan- guage.
