Froneberger celebrates her 80th birthday Helen Bess Froneberger or ‘Helen Sue’ to her friends celebrated her 80th birthday with many of her friends and family on Sunday, December 5 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Cherryville. The party was a complete surprise until she arrived at the church and not even Helen's husband, Jim, was told about the party in advance to ensure that it remained a secret. Helen was speechless as she arrived at the church fellowship hall at 3 p.m. and was immediately greeted by many of the 70 or so friends and family in attendance. Guests enjoyed a variety of light hors d'oeuvres, punch and birthday cake. A special surprise for Helen was sseing her long- time best friend, Ruth Hull Plyler, who came from Jacksonville, Florida for the party. The party was given by Helen's niece, Debbie Hailey of Houston, Texas and by her son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Pam Froneberger of Charlotte. Expert assis- tance was provided by John Kennedy of Cherryville. While the party was held on Sunday, Helen's actual 80th birthday is on Wednes- day, December 8. Website that honors military updated for holidays Rep. Sue Myrick an- nounced last week that she has updated the www. HonoringHeroes.com website for the holidays. HonoringHeroes.com is a website to honor American servicemen who have fallen on the battlefield as well as those who still fight. “I encourage everyone to visit this site and find out Auto | SaR:. how they can support our troops and honor those who have given their lives to protect America,” said Myrick. “It is especially important to show our support for troops currently deployed overseas and their families during the holiday season when they cannot be at home.” HonoringHeroes.com 417 S. Post Road ¢ Shelby, NC 28152 (Beside Keeter Ford) 704-487-0570 WARRANTIES AVAILABLE promotes the idea that families and communities should ‘adopt’ a serviceman and their family. Many military families lack the manpower to complete little things like mowing their grass or running basic errands. By adopting the soldier and their family, residents commit to help them anyway they can.
