Page 5B Books at Art Center will help you learn to be better painter You say you want to learn how to paint but can’t draw a straight line? Not to sound ugly, use a ruler. If you are painting with watercolor the line can always be erased. A lot of painters erase pencil lines, and a lot of them don’t. They like to see a little of their sketch. If you are working with oil paint or acrylic the line will be covered up. That takes care of you problem with a straight line, so no more excuses. The Art Center has a library full of art books. There are more than 300 of them. These books range from the beginner level to advanced. The beginner books show you what materials to purchase. ; There are projects that take you through step-by-step to the finish. You can easily follow these. If you have a little experience and want to try more, there are books for that, too. For the mature painter, there are books to help you keep advancing yourself, and to try new methods of approach. If you need help there is always a painter around who will help you solve your problem or help you find the answer from another source. So, come by the Center, take a look at these books, and you will see how easy you can learn to paint, draw, do col- lage, and many other techniques. There will be no children’s class on April 2, due to Spring break. Classes will resume on April 16 at 1 p.m. Stay loose, have fun, and always keep a smile on your face. Laughter keeps you alive and happier. Pat Childers Arts po Pat Childers is a member of the Southern Arts Society. She writes a twice monthly column for the Herald.
