Emily Bridges wins
Scout’s Gold Award
Emily Bridges of Kings Mountain has
earned the G 1d Award, Girl Scouting’s
Saas highest honor.
Bridges’ project
involved painting and
organizing a new craft
closet for her church. She
also painted a Sunday
school classroom. Bridges
hopes that youth groups
will come and enjoy the
newly painted room and
crafters will find the craft
closet more organized.

Bridges is the daughter of Lisa and Andy °
Bridges. She is a member of Troop 30.
Bridges and 18 other area girls were hon-
ored during a May ceremony at Spencer
Baptist Church in Spindale.
Davidson Alumni
reunion June 19
The Davidson Alumni Association will
hold its 27th annual reunion Sunday, June
19 at 3 p.m. at Mount Zion Missionary
Baptist Church Family Life Center, 220 N.
Watterson St., Kings Mountain.
Speaker will be Judge Lawrence Calvin
McSwain.
The public is invited. Refreshments will
be served.

Hawkins are engaged and plan to be mar-
ried October 1, 2005 at Sharon United
Methodist Church in Shelby.
Their engagement is announced by the
bride-elect’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Neil
Sayers of Rutherfordton. The groom-elect is
the son of Mr. and Mrs. Travis Hawkins of
Kings Mountain.
Britt is a 2001 graduate of Western
Carolina University with a BSBA in
Marketing and is employed by Hurst Jaws
of Life in Shelby
Chris is a 1997 graduate of Gaston
College/ AAS Criminal Justice and a 2000
graduate of Western Carolina University
with a BS in Industrial Distribution. He is
employed by Turbo Systems of Kings
Mountain. :

Antioch Baptist Church in Blacksburg, SC
provided the setting Saturday, May 14, 2005
for the wedding of Carly Charise Turner
and Ronnie Eugene Wyatt. The Rev. Vernon
Craig officiated the 4 p.m. double ring cere-
mony.
Dean Borders, vocalist, and Phillip
Trammel, guitar soloist, presented a pro-
gram of wedding music.
Given in marriage by her parents and
escorted by her father, the bride wore a
gown of white organza and satin. The mock
two-piece bodice featured an off the shoul-
der neckline. Rich embroidery and beading
covered the bodice both front and back. An
A-line skirt and cathedral train were
detailed in the same lavish design. Her hair
was adorned with three gold and crystal
flowers. Her fingertip scalloped edge veil of
white tulle was accented with beads and
crystals. She carried a European hand-tied
bouquet of yellow astromeria lilies, grape
derdrobium orchids, and yellow calla lilies.
Grace Trammel of Shelby was the bride’s
matron of honor. Bridesmaids were
Chassity Wyatt, sister of the groom,
Amanda Beard, cousin of the bride, and
Brittiany McCallister.
Dylan Stewart of Central, SC, was ring
bearer. Destiny Snyder of Gaffney, SC, was
flower girl.
The groom had his father, Ronnie L.
Wyatt, and his best friend, Brandy Ivey, as
best men. Groomsmen were Dean Turner,
brother of the bride, and Kevin Spencer,
cousin of the groom.
Deana Rowe and Heather Green, cousins
of the bride, attended the guest register and
distributed programs. The wedding was
directed by Bonita Lowe, the bride’s aunt.
Immediately following the ceremony, the
bride’s parents hosted a reception in the
church fellowship hall.
Mr. and Mrs. Wyatt are making their
home in Blacksburg after a wedding trip to
Orlando, FL.
The bride is the daughter of Roy and
Sheila Turner of Blacksburg, SC. Her grand-
parents are Betty Parker of Blacksburg, the
late Howard Parker, the late Elmer Turner,
and the late Leonard and Ellie Lowe. A 1999
graduate of Blacksburg High School, she
attended Cleveland Community College
and is pursuing a double major in studio
art and art education at Limestone College.
She is employed by MiKasa at Prime
Outlets in Gaffney, SC.
The groom is the son of Ronnie L. and
Cindy Wyatt of Gaffney, SC. He is the
grandson of Bob and Carolyn Vinson and
Laura Allison, all of Gaffney, SC. He is a
1992 graduate of Gaffney High School and
is employed by Bootleg and Prime Outlets
in Gaffney, SC.
The groom's parents and grandparents

Jennifer Hope Sloan and Mark Andrew
Wampler were married at 2 p.m. on April 2,
2005 at First Baptist Church, Kings
Mountain. Dr. John W. Sloan Jr., the bride's
father, officiated with the assistance of
Roger Critcher. A reception followed in the
Christian Ministry Center.
The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs.
John W. Sloan Jr. of Kings Mountain. She is
the granddaughter of Kathleen H. Sloan
and the late John W. Sloan Sr. of Charlotte
and Mrs. Bronah M. Doster and the late
Ney S. Doster, also of Charlotte. Jennifer is
a graduate of Appalachian State University
with a BS in Chemistry - Secondary
Education. She is currently working on her
Masters of School Administration at
Appalachian State University and will
graduate in May of 2006.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Terry L. Wampler of Cherryville. He is the
grandson of the late Horace and Inez
Hamrick of Cliffside and the late Mr. and
Mrs. Claude Wampler of Elkhart, IN. Mark
is a graduate of Rutgers University in New
Jersey with a BS in Criminal Justice.
The bride's sister, Joy Sloan of Kings
Mountain, was the maid of honor. The
bridesmaids were Amy Flores of Raleigh,
Kathy Holcombe of Asheville and Kerri
Sizemore of Winston-Salem. The junior
bridesmaid /flower girl was Amanda
Critcher of Deep Gap. Andrea Allen of
Cary, Pam Villiers of Wake Forest and
Emily Long of Cambridge, MA were hon-
orary bridesmaids.
The groom's brother, David Wampler of
Pohatcong, NJ was the best man.
Groomsmen were Charles Kleinberg of
Somerset, NJ, Tom Szymboroski of
Mountainside, NJ and J. Sloan of James
Island, SC. Ushers were Patrick Williams of
Boone and Kevin Daniel of Wake Forest.
The ring bearer was Blake-Honeycutt of
Gastonia.
After a Caribbean cruise to Cozumel,
Mexico and the Grand Cayman Islands, the
couple will reside in Boone.

bride’s responsibility to obtain permission
